Eli POV
A voice? A human?
No...
I take a step back stopping myself from jumping and turn my head in the direction of the voice. A man stood a few feet away from me gesturing his hand towards mine, he was tall around 6ft, hair black like charcoal and came just above his ears. His eyes emerald green pierced through my own, they showed fear but he was hiding it well. He was handsome, the most handsome man I’d ever met actually and I’ve met many people in my lifetime. The black leather armor he wore fitted him well showing his strength and muscle.
I could tell I probably looked shocked or confused to him. I just kind of froze and stared at him for a moment without even realising.
How could I have not noticed him there? His presence and Aura are now so clear to me, I definitely need to adjust to my awakened state. Sleeping for a few hundred years didn’t do me much good obviously. Nerves also start to take over and I struggle to say anything at all back to him, I realise my breathing had become heavy and I try relax my stance. Why am I being so silly? He only said hello, I need to say something.. I grit my teeth and gesture my hand back towards his, our Auras connect and I knew then...
We were both Demons!
The connection seemed to stun us both, I think he realised too.
“Hello” I said quietly with concern in my voice, it was the first time I’d spoken in centuries seems I need to get used to speaking again too...
I tilted my head admiring his Aura I’d never seen another Demons Aura before. It was green and matched his eyes, the green faded to black similar to my own. It felt strong unlike other creatures I’d met before.
He smiled at me with relief when I’d answered, but I remained cautious. The tension felt high to me, I’m definitely on the defensive but he doesn’t look to be threatening in any way.
“Is this your home?” He asked eagerly.
I reply with a nod and his eyes widen, I feel his Auras energy increase greatly! He takes a sudden step towards me and I take a step back, sensing my wariness he stops and stands still.
With a softer tone he says “I’ve been looking for the Hidden Kingdom for many years, I’ve also been looking for the Demon who created it”.
I didn’t like been called ‘Demon’ I have a name and the humans feared the word, I hated the idea of people thinking I was a monster. I ignore it as he didn’t know my name yet and I didn’t know his. I thought I’d be so happy when someone finally found this place but I didn’t expect it to be another Demon!
“How did you find this place?” I ask.
“It wasn’t easy I can tell you that!” he laughed a little while he said this and it made me show a slight smile.
Seeing this seemed to make him relax a little also and he continued.
“I’ve heard stories of Demons but just the ones to scare children in the night, I wanted to know if there was anyone else like me. I searched places that kept records of old history and found writing about one Demon that aided the First King”.
Hearing this hit home.. I too had searched for so long for another, I still couldn’t believe he was real. Am I just dreaming? Have I finally lost it completely? No.. its definitely real.
I need to stop being ridiculous and just be myself. I place my hand on my chest and say.. “Eli”
“IT IS YOU!” He exclaimed, realising his approach he again backed off a little. But he then gave me a strange look, tilting his head, his eyebrows furrowed, he pointed his finger right at me.
“Aren’t you supposed to be 1000 years old or something” he said bluntly. “You look like you’re in your 20’s, is it a trick you can do?”
I could have kicked him right off the wall for that comment, nobody had ever been brave enough to make any sort of inappropriate comment to my face before. But he was half right and his confidence was amusing.
“It’s rude to talk about a ladies age you know..” I responded sharply, “and no tricks if your a Demon you know we don’t age”
He let out another small laugh and took a steady step towards me.
“I’ve been here 200 years now and I haven’t aged either and I don’t actually know anything about Demons. I’ve always wondered if I’d just die one day or if my body would just disappear”.
“Don’t you remember where you were before here?” I asked?
“What do you mean?”
“We came from another world, hate and evil cause us to manifest here. I remember my life before this world, do you not remember your own?”
He lowered and shook his head, looking more confused than he did before. But suddenly raised it back up and locked eyes with me.
“Ohh! I’m Kinru by the way. And I’m really glad I finally found you”
I show a real smile and start to feel more relaxed after he shared his name back with me. I wonder why he can’t remember his life before this... He went off the subject pretty quickly, so I decide to leave the matter until he’s comfortable talking about it.
The air started to suddenly feel cold, even with my warm blood I felt it. The wind blowing between us caught my attention, following it’s direction I look towards my castle and the rest of the Kingdom. I can’t help but worry about what he’s actually come here for.
“I know you said you wanted to find another Demon, but is there a specific reason you came looking for me?” I ask.
“Well I hoped you’d be able to share some information about our kind and I also hoped that you allow me a place in your Kingdom”.
“You want to stay here?”
“Yes, well uhhh... if that’s ok with you?”
I freeze for a second in disbelief.. He wants to stay? I feel so happy it’s overwhelming, I take a sharp breath trying to hide my emotions. Pulling myself together I nod my head and hold out my hand, we both smile and hold each others forearm connecting our Auras. We stand for a moment acknowledging our new friendship.
It is done.
My home is now his home.
All these years waiting and finally someone found it. And it wasn’t just anyone it was another Demon, someone who I could really connect with. I feel my spirit starting to lift already as well as regaining hope for the future.
With the tension starting to ease, I look up into his eyes and say with a smile;
“I think we should head inside and have some tea!”
