REJECTED

Her head throbbed with pain as she slowly regained consciousness. The world around her swam into focus, and she found herself in a dimly lit room. Flashbacks from the previous night made their way into her head. She tried to recollect what happened. "Rena! Yes, I was with Rena last night. Where did she go? Why did she run away?" Lyra thought to herself. "No, no, no" Lyra yelled, " today is my birthday and I'm…" she broke down in tears. 'I can't handle all this," Lyra sobbed, running her hands through her thick long hair, she removed strands of hair sticking to the tears that strolled down her face. Lyra knew she had always been unlucky but being locked there on her birthday wasn't expected. "Rena, go back to the pack now! We'll take it from here" Those were the exact words she heard last night, "Wait, Rena set me up?" Lyra gasped, trickles of heat running down my back as she realized her friend had betrayed her. Tears welled up in her eyes, Rena, the one person she thought she could trust in this cruel world, had turned against her. The door to the room was flung open. It was Alpha Lucas. His presence alone sent shivers down her spine. She couldn't look him in the eyes. He had warned her not to dare him but she disobeyed. "You're awake," he said with a sardonic smile. "Did you have a pleasant pre-birthday nap, my dear Lyra?" He circled Lyra like a predator toying with its prey. "You see, Lyra, I can't afford to lose such a valuable asset as you. You're the perfect gift for Alpha Aiden of the Bloodstone pack." "Why am I the perfect one?" That was an important question I needed to answer. He ignored my question. "But Rena..." Lyra began, her voice breaking. Alpha Lucas interrupted me with a cruel chuckle. "Ah, Rena. She played her part well, didn't she? I made sure she kept an eye on you, my guards were with you and you didn't know." Rena's betrayal cut deeper than any wound. Lyra had confided in her, trusted her, and she had stabbed her in the back. "Please, Alpha Lucas, don't send me away," Lyra begged, tears streaming down her face. "I don't know anything about the Bloodstone pack. I can't be given as a gift." His face hardened. "You'll do as I command, Lyra. I don't negotiate with trash, so shut your gutter." Lyra bent her head and placed it between her knees. There was no use begging. "Consider it a contribution to the pack that gave you a home for thirteen years of your life." He gave Lyra a grin and walked to the door. I had a f**king home before you abducted me. He's so lucky he couldn't read Lyra's mind, he would have seen horrible things written there. The door swung open again, and two guards entered the room. They grabbed her roughly, pulling her to her feet. "Come along now," one of them sneered. "Give her 12 lashes, she needs it for the journey" Alpha Lucas commanded, and strolled out of the room, his head upwards with a grin on his face. "Yes, Sir!" One of the guards landed his spiky whip on her back. "Help me" Lyra screamed. She couldn't endure this pain. To make matters worse, she didn't have a wolf yet to assist her in times like this. Lyra got weak and couldn't shout for help anymore, she just lay there helpless and alone in this world. Afterward, she was taken to the pack's doctor to receive medication. If it wasn't wickedness, what was his reason for putting her through such torture and pain? The pain she felt was indescribable. What a way to celebrate her eighteenth birthday. *** "What is your name?" The handsome-looking werewolf broke the silence in the car. "My name is Nate, I am Alpha Xavier's beta" "Lyra," she managed to say. Lyra was still in pain, her head hurt badly and she felt like she was going to have a fever. "You are a quiet wolf, Lyra". Nate said but she didn't reply. "We are finally home," he said in relief as he watched the quiet wolf come out of the car. Alpha Xavier was there to receive them, he opened the door for her to come out of the car. She was barely out of the car when she fell unconscious before him. He caught her just in time and Xavier closed his eyes for a brief second to mind-link the pack's doctor. He took her to his room, after all, she was going to be his mate soon. As he moved with her, he noticed how fragile and weightless she was. He dropped her on the bed and took a good look at her. Her neck wasn't balanced and when he tried to adjust her, his hands met with blood. She was bleeding! He pulled the back of her dress to see marks and tears, they were fresh and the sight looked gory. Who could have done this to her? A rush of pity mixed with anger raised within him. 'Sorry, I'm late Alpha," Dr Debs called out. "This is bad," she said. She directed the nurse to clean her up and stitch the wounds. "Alpha Xavier, this child needs help. Her blood pressure is high and her blood level is too low, she hasn't been feeding well". Xavier sighed. Her breathing was unstable and he could sense she was wolfless and an Omega, her weakness was so obvious. He clenched his fist to hold in his anger, the Brightstone pack took him for a fool. A wolf-less Omega?!! "They gave me a laughing stock after I agreed to make peace with them and stop the attack on their pack. They would dance to the music they had played." Talking to no one in particular he flung the door open and left the room. Lyra felt warm and cozy, she had never felt this way before, except of course, when she was a child, which she could barely remember. She opened her eyes to see that it was dark and a little difficult to see, the throbbing pain in her head from earlier had stopped and her back felt better. She trailed the scent that filled the room where she was lying, peaceful yet domineering. She turned to adjust her dress when she met a cold stare. It was the Alpha. Why was he watching her? Lyra looked around, Oh! this was his room, he must have been waiting for her to wake up, she thought. "I'm sorry, Alpha Lucas," Lyra pleaded, limping as she stood up to straighten the bed. "Ahh!!" She felt a sharp pain in her right leg and she winced in pain. "For a wolfless omega, you should learn how to do things at your own pace," he said. She folded her lips as if to suck it. She did that whenever she was nervous, she wanted to thank him, but she wasn't sure how to put it. "The injections might cause pain in your legs," Lyra heard him say. "Thank you for saving me" she managed to say. My appreciation was received with a loud laugh, he took steps toward her, and her heart tightened. "I needed a mate and my Beta, Nate, advised me to request one from the Brightstone pack —-your pack," he let out a chuckle, "they gave me trash, a wolfless Omega". Lyra felt her blood dry out, she was in trouble. But why did he treat her? "Now I'm wondering if I should send you back or get you killed instead" The huge Alpha bent down to look at her deeply, her heart melted when their eyes locked in. He has this aura she couldn't place her hands on. The short distance between them caused her c**t to get wet and slippery, so she adjusted her dress and avoided eye contact with him. "What is happening to you?" Lyra thought to herself. "An easily aroused Omega," he let out a chuckle. Lucas grabbed her chin and made his face turn to his. "You can't be my mate, Lucas. I am an Alpha, the most feared one at that, I need a strong Luna as my mate, not you" "I, Alpha Xavier of the Bloodstone pack, reject you Lyra, as my mate." "I, Lyra of the Brightstone pack, reject you, Alpha Xavier stones as my mate." She was supposed to say Kenwood pack, that was her pack but she changed her mind. Lyra never mentioned her name in public, her family line had gone instinctively, what was the need to attach herself to it? Lyra swallowed hard. Rejection in grand style. This meant two things; either she gets sent back to Brightstone and gets killed there or she gets killed here. Things just got worse.
