VALENTINE There was this loud ringing that seemed to follow me when my eyes fluttered open, greeted by the almost blinding lights of the fluorescent bulbs. When I tried to rise, a searing pain shot through my body, forcing me to fall back to the bed. It was like a thousand needles prickling every inch of my skin. “Easy,” Came a familiar voice. But familiar did not mean comforting. My disoriented senses quickly recognized the voice. Kerri was approaching me. In an instant, she was by my side, her eyes filled with concern. It was uncanny as it was scary. “Do not try to move just yet. You are still healing.” She was helping me. Why in the world would Kerri be helping me. I found myself shifting away from here despite of the pain every small movement racked on my body. “Why?” I stammered.
