CHASED

She runs blindly into the dark woods, pursued by her biggest fear. She doesn't know where she runs to, only that it'd mean her death if she didn't. Watching the endless way made her remember how much she hated the woods. Tears blurred her eyes as the cold wind slapped her on the cheeks. Lights shone behind her, a voice screamed her name. She cannot let him catch her or it's game over. She comes to a grinding halt to the cliff, end of the path. If she jumps she'd be injured for sure, but it's too late to consider, as she gets shoved off from behind. She shrieked as she tumbles down the cliff, cuts and bruises cover her body as she comes to a bloody stop. She laid face down, crimson flow from her head stained the black pavement. She grunted to get back up only to fall back down. Her heartbeat matching the same rhythm as her harsh breathing. Her body went numb as the rain started pouring. Her silent cries wishing someone would rescue her became no more than a simple wish. The road was empty, a perfect way for her to die, a perfect way for no one to know where she is. How can one person do this much damage? Was her only thought. Her eyes watched her hand curl up into a fist only to feel nothing. A light beamed on the empty road. It passed her lifeless body only for a few seconds before coming back to a stop. The sound of the door opening caught her attention. Her eyes forcing to shut. She couldn't fight it. Footsteps made her way as she lightly closed her eyes, accepting her fate of death. Her only regret was not seeing her best friend, the person who was her reason to live her life. Sorry. Was all she wanted to say.
