Third-person POV
Sebastian stood outside Scarlett’s door, his heart pounding in his chest. The conversation he had in mind right now wasn’t a conversation he ever imagined having—especially not with Scarlett, but he knew it couldn’t wait any longer.
Drawing in a deep breath, he raised his hand and knocked softly, three times.
“Who is it?” Scarlett’s voice called from the other side.
“It’s me,” Sebastian replied, forcing his voice to remain steady. “Are you busy?”
There was a pause, just long enough to make him second-guess knocking at all, but then the door opened, revealing Scarlett. She stood there, looking at him with an unreadable expression, and her eyes were sharp and guarded.
