Scarlett's POV
I stood frozen in front of the bathroom door, staring down at the pregnancy test in my trembling hands. My mind was spinning with a thousand different thoughts, but none of them were helpful.
Sunny was sitting cross-legged on my bed, her arms folded across her chest as she watched me with a mix of patience and concern.
After what felt like hours of silence, she finally let out an exasperated sigh. “Scarlett,” she said, her voice calm, “are you going to take the test or not?”
I looked up at her, then down at the plastic stick in my hand. My throat felt tight, and my eyes stung as tears began to blur my vision. “I don’t know,” I admitted, my voice shaky. “I don’t think I have the courage.”
