Chapter 33 EVA POINT OF VIEW I never thought I'd end up in prison. Never. But here I am. The guard pushed me through the heavy metal door. It made this awful sound when it shut behind me - BANG! - like a gunshot. I jumped. My heart was beating so fast I thought it might explode. Everything felt wrong. The orange jumpsuit was too big and scratchy against my skin. The air smelled bad like cleaning stuff and sweat and something else I couldn't name. Something scary. My fancy shoes from the courtroom were gone, replaced by cheap plastic sandals that made my feet hurt. Yesterday, I'd been standing in court.
