We stood there for awhile just looking out before he broke the silence.
“ What happened to your backbone?” he asked.
I was startled by the question.
“ I don’t know what you mean my lord”
“ When you came to us you had more fire in you. What happened?”
We looked at each other for a while then directed our gaze back to staring out at the waves. What had happened to me?
“ My family’s life and survival is on the line. Wouldn’t you do the same for all you held dear?’
He shook his head satisfied with my answer.
