The chattering crowd went silent in an instant, parting like the Red Sea to create a path.
Gu Xixi could feel the air crackle with an intimidating aura. She couldn’t help but turn around, curious to catch a glimpse of the person exuding such powerful energy.
Suddenly, everything went dark. Dizziness overwhelmed her as the files slipped from her grasp, cascading to the floor. She collapsed, her body pitching forward.
The onlookers gasped in disbelief. Only one thought echoed in their minds: Gu Xixi was finished!
To collide with the CEO in public… She was as good as fired!
Yin Sichen was striding toward the conference hall when out of the blue, a petite figure stumbled out of the crowd, arms overflowing with files. The files went flying, and the girl tumbled toward him.
His first instinct was to dodge. But as her face came into view, he instinctively moved forward, catching her in his arms.
Gasps filled the air. Everyone was stunned.
Did the CEO just… catch her?
Everyone knew he kept his distance from women. In the past, any employee trying to get close to him, hoping to use their looks to get ahead, had been punished severely.
No one had ever succeeded.
And yet, here he was, holding this insignificant little staff member in his arms?
As Gu Xixi drifted into unconsciousness, her blurry vision registered a devastatingly handsome face.
Strange. Why did he resemble the man she had met a month ago...?
Then, she blacked out.
Yin Sichen looked down. The woman in his arms had fainted.
His brow furrowed slightly. Everyone held their breath, bracing themselves for his wrath.
To their surprise, he gently lifted her into his arms, turning to his assistant. “She's one of ours. Get her to a hospital.”
The assistant quickly took the unconscious Gu Xixi and left.
Yin Sichen’s gaze fell upon the scattered files. His eyebrows knitted together, a storm brewing in his eyes. Several people immediately scrambled to gather the fallen documents. Finally, the path was clear. Without sparing a glance at anyone, Yin Sichen strode off.
The dumbfounded employees could only watch as he left.
"But… Doesn’t he hate it when women get close to him?" a female employee whispered, "Why wasn’t Gu Xixi fired?"
"I… I think I’m a little envious of Gu Xixi,” another female employee murmured, her gaze lingering on Yin Sichen’s retreating figure.
At the hospital, the doctor concluded the examination, a cheerful smile on his face. "Congratulations, you’re going to be a father!" he announced to the assistant who had brought Gu Xixi in.
The assistant stared blankly, taking a moment to process the doctor’s words.
The staff member was pregnant?
The CEO had suddenly and strangely entrusted this woman to him. Could it be… the CEO’s child? So, the CEO’s preferences were normal after all. His own virtue was safe.
Relieved, a burning curiosity ignited within him.
He had to tell the CEO this news immediately!
Meanwhile, Yin Sichen was in a meeting, negotiating a deal with a South Korean conglomerate. If successful, this deal would grant Yin’s corporation control over one percent of South Korea’s annual economy.
“Our chairman values family above all else,” the Korean representative remarked with a smile. “He believes that only those who cherish and nurture their families can become reliable long-term partners. President Yin, you are so young, successful, and, if I may add, handsome. I’m sure you share the same values?"
“Naturally," Yin Sichen responded with a smile. "Family is of utmost importance to me. We, the Yins, take family values very seriously.”
Just then, a message from his assistant arrived. "Please excuse me for a moment," Yin Sichen apologized, "I need to attend to an urgent matter.”
The Korean representative nodded understandingly.
His finger tapped open the message. “Sir, the staff member who fainted, the doctor confirmed she's pregnant.”
Yin Sichen’s face darkened as he read the message.
How could this be?
He hadn’t taken any precautions that night. And he hadn’t seen that woman since. Did she…? Did she not use protection...?
It seemed the answer was clear.
His expression grew stormy.
The Korean representative sensed something was amiss. "Is something the matter?" he inquired cautiously.
Reining in his anger, Yin Sichen replied, “It’s nothing important. Please, don't let me interrupt our meeting.”
Reassured, the Korean representative continued, “Our chairman will be visiting China soon. He wishes to meet with you personally and finalize the remaining documents. I must say, President Yin, I am thoroughly impressed with you and your corporation."
Suppressing his anger, Yin Sichen replied, "The feeling is mutual. It’s an honor to collaborate with you. I have no doubt that our partnership will be fruitful."
Smiling, the Korean representative stood up and shook Yin Sichen’s hand. "Our chairman will be accompanied by his wife. It would be our pleasure if you would join us with your wife as well."
"I look forward to welcoming him personally,” Yin Sichen replied with a smile, shaking the representative's hand.
As soon as the Korean representative left, Yin Sichen’s smile vanished.
His eyes narrowed, their depths turning glacial.
How dare she get pregnant with his child? And she had almost made him lose his composure, nearly costing him billions!
It was time he taught that woman a lesson.
Having his child wasn’t a simple matter of desire and entitlement.
Taking his leave, Yin Sichen strode out of the conference hall.
The sharp drop in temperature in his wake was palpable. The assistants exchanged nervous glances. What had happened?
One minute he was the epitome of charm with the Korean representative, and the next, an icy storm.
They hurried after him, fearful of further repercussions.
Yin Sichen marched out of the building, got into his car, and roared off, leaving a cloud of dust in his wake.
His $6,000,000 Aston Martin One-77 was a beast, and in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
By the time his assistants emerged from the building, all they saw was the receding taillights of his car.
“Quick, follow him!” one of them shouted, momentarily stunned.
The CEO was truly enraged. He’d never drive this fast otherwise.
Yin Sichen grabbed his phone and dialed his assistant at the hospital. “Explain everything,” he commanded.
Assistant A was practically buzzing with excitement. "Sir, the doctor confirmed it. The staff member is six weeks pregnant. It’s a healthy pregnancy," he reported eagerly.
Yin Sichen’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
He knew she was a virgin when they were together. And six weeks… that lined up perfectly with that night.
This child… was his! The very thought made his blood run cold.
No wonder she’d refused the check!
So this was her game all along.
Five million was nothing to the Yin Corporation. If she gave birth to the heir, she could have five hundred million.
She was a cunning one, indeed. How could he have ever thought she was innocent?
So that was her plan all along?
That woman… she was finished.
The Aston Martin screeched to a halt in front of the hospital.
Yin Sichen stepped out of the car, only to be greeted by an astonishing sight. The entire hospital staff, from nurses to the head doctor, stood lined up in two neat rows, their heads bowed in a respectful greeting.
Taken aback, Yin Sichen paused. His visit was unplanned, unannounced. Why were they all here?
The hospital director rushed forward, his face a mixture of surprise and confusion. “President Yin, we didn’t know you were coming! What can we do for you?”
Yin Sichen raised an eyebrow. Clearly, someone important was here. “Who is everyone welcoming? It’s quite the grand reception.”
This was a private hospital under the Yin Corporation. Who else could command such deference?
The director cleared his throat, “Well, you see, sir, the Chairman is here. She is currently inside.”
A wave of unease washed over Yin Sichen.
Why was his grandmother here? Her health check-ups were always done at home. There was absolutely no need for her to come to a hospital.
Unless…
No, it couldn’t be…
He couldn’t stand here speculating. “Where is she now? Yin Sichen demanded, striding past the director.
“The Chairman is in the top-floor ward at the moment. She is visiting a patient,” the director replied, hurrying to keep up.
Yin Sichen went straight to the executive elevator and ascended to the top floor.
Calling it a “ward” was an understatement. It was an opulent penthouse suite.
Floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of the city. A handwoven Italian rug covered the floor. A bespoke crystal chandelier, fit for royalty, hung from the ceiling. The furniture… custom-made by a renowned French designer.
Even the most insignificant screw had been meticulously crafted and flown in from abroad.
Only direct descendants of the Yin family were permitted access to this ward. In other words, only the chairman, Yin Sichen’s parents, Yin Sichen himself, his future spouse, and their children were deemed worthy.
The rest of the extended family could only dream of setting foot in this luxurious space. They were relegated to the floor below.
This was the stark reality of their status within the family hierarchy.
As he approached the room, he could hear his grandmother's delighted laughter. “Very good, very good. As long as this child grows up healthy, the Yin family will shower you with blessings!”
Turning the corner, he saw his grandmother speaking with the Head of Obstetrics, the physician responsible for the health of the Yin family’s future generations.
The nurses turned to him at once, bowing respectfully. "Congratulations, Chairman! Congratulations, President Yin! The Old Madam is in good health, and the child is developing well, as well."
The doctor's words caused Yin Sichen’s blood to run cold.
“Grandmother!” he said, barely keeping his anger in check. He swept the room with a chilling gaze, his powerful aura causing the others to shrink back.
“Leave us." he ordered, his voice colder than ice. "I need to speak with the Chairman in private.”
