Getting a job

Chapter Four

She was finally done with the dance and breathed heavily. She smiled and decided to continue walking. After a while she decided to go home.

She entered the house and froze when she saw her mother on the floor.

"Mum." She called in fear and rushed to her.

"Mum!" She yelled and shook her, her mother wasn't responding and she panicked.

"Mum come on get up, what is wrong with you?" She asked in tears and stood up, she rushed to the fridge and took a bottle of water, she ran to her and sprinkled it on her face.

She opened her eyes and Baby hugged her tightly.

"Mummy are you okay?"

Her mother coughed and she slowly pulled her mother on the couch.

"Mum do you want anything?" She asked and her mother shook her head.

"You are sick again and you need drugs but we don't have any money." She lamented with tears falling from her eyes.

"Am okay Baby."

"No you are not mum, when it's tomorrow I will look for a job and get some money and buy you drugs."

"You don't have to worry Baby."

"Yes I do."

"You have been banned from everywhere in this neighbourhood, where do you want to work?" Her mother asked and she smiled.

"I will look for a restaurant have not been banned from yet which is down the street, then I will apply for a daily job and get paid then I will buy your drugs."

Her mum burst into laughter and she frowned.

"You can't spend five minutes among people without hurting them and you actually want to work for a day?" She laughed and Baby frowned.

"You should at least encourage me."

"No no, that will be lying if I try to encourage you cause you can't do it." Her mother laughed louder and she huffed before walking to her room.

The next day Baby woke up by nine in the morning and she smiled happily cause she was up early. She walked to the bathroom and quickly took her bath, she got dressed in a jean trouser and a big top with her sandal.

She was about to walk out of the room but stopped and picked her toy g*n which looks like a real g*n.

"It might be useful who knows?" She muttered and walked out of the room.

She walked to the living room and smiled on seeing her mother. Her mother saw her and spat out the coffee she was drinking, she stood up immediately and rushed to Baby.

"Are you okay? Did you have a bad dream? Did someone hurt you in your dream? Are you sure you are mentally and physically okay?" She rushed her questions.

"Stop it mum am fine."

"Are you sure? Should I call nine one one?"

"Mum am fine and why are you acting this way?"

"Can't you see?" Her mother asked.

"I really don't." She shrugged and her mother groaned.

"It's nine, nine in the morning, Baby you are up nine in the morning which has never happened ever since you were born, its too early for you so am asking you again. Baby are you okay?" She asked and Baby sighed.

"Yes mum am fine." She scoffed and her mother sighed in relief.

"Okay so before you go out the rules for the day. Don't threaten anyone with your toy g*n, don't disrespect the cops...."

"Mum I know." She cut her off and her mum smiled.

"Okay fine, good bye."

She walked out of the house and head down town to the only restaurant she hasn't been banned from. She finally got there and walked in.

She looked around before walking to the counter, she met a guy there and he smiled at her.

"Good morning, welcome to Making A Meal, what can I get you?" He smiled and she just kept staring.

"Actually am not here to eat, I need to see your manager, I want a job here."

"Ohh okay, go down this hallway and move to the third door by your right."

"Okay, thank you."

She followed the direction and got to the front of the door, she took in a deep breath and knocked on the door.

"Come in." A grumpy voice answered behind the door and she walked in slowly.

"Good morning sir." She greeted the man seated on the chair.

"Morning how can I help you?"

"I was wondering if I can get a daily job here like just for today and get paid in the evening."

"No." He replied harshly.

"Please."

"I will pay you fifty dollars."

"Yes am okay with it."

"Good you can be a waitress, now Keane my office."

Baby smiled happily and walked out of the office.

Baby was finally done for the day and walked to the manger's office.

"Sir I will like to have my pay now."

"What pay?"

"Fifty dollars."

"Oh yeah about that, I changed my mind am not paying you again."

"Excuse me?" She asked surprised.

"You heard me right? Get out." He snapped and Baby chuckled.

She suddenly brought out her toy g*n and pointed it at him. The man flinched and she smiled.

"Oh yeah about that, I changed my mind I want two hundred dollars now." She snapped at him and he hurriedly gave her.

"With tips?" She asked and the man gave her again.

"Wow thank you so much." She said happily and ran out of the restaurant. She ran to a pharmacy and got her mother's drugs then she went to the groceries store to get some things and kept the charge left."

On her way home she paused when she saw a news about Jeremy's concert, she smiled happily when she saw that it was tomorrow.

She quickly bought the tickets with the money left with her, she smiled happily and carried the bags home, she walked into the house and saw her mum going through a book.

"Hey Baby's mom." She said and dropped the bags. Her mother looked at her and the bags back and forth.

"Who did you kill?" Her mother asked and she smiled.

"I didn't, I worked at a restaurant today and I got paid."

"Really?"

"Okay not really but I worked then I was about to get paid but the manger didn't give me do I pointed my toy g*n at him and he gave me two hundred and fifty dollars."

"Baby!" Her mother exclaimed and she smiled.

Baby opened the bags and brought out her drugs, she gave her and brought out the groceries. Her mother smiled and hugged her.

"Even though you scared the person to get all this, I still love you for trying. Thank you Baby."

"Mum am hungry." She whined and her mother smiled.

"There is pasta in the kitchen, you can eat it if you....." Her mother hasn't completed her statement and she ran to the kitchen.

Baby finished her food and yawned.

"Good night mum." She yelled and walked to her room. She smiled and removed the tickets from her pocket. She smiled and giggled happily cause she will finally see her crush physically for the first time ever.
