I had been sleeping all through work at the store, some customers had cursed at me for being slow. Thankfully Emily had been so helpful and understood me. I stopped by Winnie's flower shop, she needed me to repair her back window.
"Good day Winnie,
" oh my dear sammie, you look rather pale are you ill? She asked concerned
"Just lack good sleep"
"Go get some, you can come fix the window tomorrow"
"it's fine, I don't have night work, I will certainly get some sleep diz night'
" If you say so,
"I say so" I said firmly.
"How's your mom?
" Enrolled her in a Activities Club for elders

" I just need her to get better, we need her,

After I was done, I did two more repairs.
Funny how my handy woman's started at Winnie's Shop, she told all the town I could repair anything and more better men.
The kids were still little then, so the people often gave both food and money as payment.
I stooped at the club building to pick mom,
Suprisingly it worked like magic, Mom was
Smiling talking happily to an elderly woman her age. Haven't seen her smiled since her last surgery.
"That's my daughter Sam" I heard her tell the woman, she said something and they had a little heartily laugh.
"Nice to meet you Sam, am Delia,
" Nice to meet you, Mrs Delia,
"it's miss, been divorced for 25yrs now, and Delia is just fine, you're as beautiful as your mom described you just need to visit the salon your hair is a mess darling" She commented and it didn't seem as an insult or mock, she talked with full admiration towards me.
"Haven't had time for that" I said shyly
Had to admit for an elderly lady her hair was more well taken care of than mine.
"Maybe you can stop by my Salon, I would gladly give you a free make over, Sienna is my friend now" she contined
"Okay" I said as I took her card from her hands
"mom let's go, we have to pick up the kids from school, I went to Winnie's earlier she said she would be out" They were practicing for thier schools Christmas party.
"Alright, Delia let's see tomorrow" mom told her as they did a friendly hug before parting. We took the bus to the kids school
"Mom, glad you made a friend" I said breaking the silence,
" She reminded me of what it's like to be alive, for years now it's been one treatment to another, the cancer never seem to go away, and there's these guilt of adding to your burdens am really sorry Samantha that I am not of any help to you," she said to me
" Mom you're on this again, you're not a burden since dad died you took care of me and my sister alone, am just glad to have you back with me,
"No more stopping the kids at Winnie's
I will take care of then till you're off work no more wallowing in pain and guilt and being in a trance all day, I am gonna help with all I can baby"
"Thank you mom, these means alot, all these times you've been with us but half consciously glad to have the whole you back" I was genuinely gald that tears formed in my eyes
"Don't cry here, baby she cooed. And I nodded happily.
Gina
Aunt Sam and grand ma came to pick us, we were the last to leave the school and our teacher wasn't happy at all about being kept here all evening. She had a family too.
Grandma and Sam apologized repeatedly to her. "Make sure it doesn't happen again" she said with a half smile. "How was school my lovelies" grandma asked smiling in the cab. Me and gorge looked at each other at once it hasn't happened in a long while "Georgie is there something wrong with grams" I asked
"I don't know"
"Sam, is grandma okay?
" Better than ever, she said smiling
"Did you call dad? I want to see my daddy"
"No I didn't
" You, said you would,
"she forgot I will give him a call when we get home, grandma said
We got home, aunt Sam made dinner grams helped me with my assignment, George loves doing his himself. After dinner grams called dad as she's said finally someone who stuck too there words.
" Hello, dad it's me, Gina"
"who's Gina? Dad on the phone asked
Why would he asked such did he forget my name I heard aunt Sam chuckles from behind.
" errrm it's Gina and George dad"
"oh, the kids, how are you doing my dear?
" am fine, would you come spend Christmas with us dad?
"Christmas, it's just dad got alot of work going on, I can't leave it,
" Dad, please me and Georgie wants to see you,
"Leave me out of this" Georgie said
"I just can't my dear" Dad said and I was sad just wanted him to come for Christmas.
"Is there anything you want? He asked.
He always sent present.
"Nope,the doll house you sent is still keeping me busy" I replied
"What doll house? Do you want a doll house?,
What is going on, he gave me a doll house on my birthday last month.
" okay, What about the ribbons?
"You want a ribbon too?
Oh no the gifts weren't from dad

I dropped the phone I had too.

I saw the shock on her face, didn't want her to find out about the gifts cause she always held expectations that her dad loved her so she only was always waiting for presents and calls from him.
"Was it you? She asked softly
" it's her,
Georgie replied. "I found out on your birthday, all the gifts came from Sam and you were so proud of them that you told all your friends about the gifts so I couldn't tell you am sorry Gina"
"It's okay, goergie.
I felt bad for Gina, she's just a seven year old who wants attention from her father.
" At least we get to spend Christmas together as a family, it doesn't matter if you dad comes or not"Grams said.
"Christmas? Grams look at the decorations it looks like a seven year old did it!, George exclaimed,"Two seven years old did do it" grams said and everyone laughed
"Thier right the decorations are horrible" I had to agree I had left the decorations to them cause I was busy and mom wasn't at the right frame of mind then.
"What about we do the decorations together right now, then head to bed cause our dearest Sam has work tomorrow"
"But tomorrow is Saturday, Sam promised to take us to the park" Gina grumbled she seemed to be over her dad issue.
"I have work, we're attending a trade fair tomorrow" I said
Our Employer had told us about this and it was mandatory cause we had to get new products at good discounts, get manufactures and suppliers contacts for the store, we did it last year too.
"I will take you to the playground" Grams was saving me right now
"Are you sure grams, last time you went you collapsed" George said he was right she did and she spent a whole month recuperating in the hospital. But George was also a boy who loved indoors more, he could watch or draw all day without leaving the house unlike him Gina always wanted to go out for fun.
"I feel better Giegie, grams said she loved to call George" giegie".
"That's settled lets decorate"
"yah! Ginaa shouted as she played with one of the decorations
" No, drop that I made that horse to hang on the three" giegie said going over to Gina
"Really I thought it was a pig" she said running around grams who was sitting on her chair so George wouldn't get to her
We laughed.
"it's not funny, it's a phoenix horse" George blurted trying to catch Gina who was making circles at grams.
"theres no such thing....
After decorations, the kids went to bed and grams and I were in the all decorated living room staring at the Opera show in the TV.
"Have you ever considered going back to college baby"
"Yes, alot everytime I save up something happens and I have to use it"
"Am really sorry for being a bad mother" she said sadly
"Not this again mom, you're an incredible mom, I don't blame you at all"
"Thank you am blessed with such a good daughter like you Samantha"
"You raised me well mom" yes she did raise me well
"I want you to enjoy Christmas these year"
"I don't have time for that mom"
"I know, I told Delia she's going to find you a job that has free time for you"
"okay Mom" I didn't want to argue, if she found the job and I don't want I would just turn down the offer.
After the trade fair It was noon, I went straight home mom and the kids were back from the playground now. They were playing puzzle at the table in the living room.
"welcome Aunt Sam" the kids voices echoed
"Thank you, did you have fun today"
"yes, we played alot errrm.m Georgie even made freinds" Gina said
"That's not true, we just played throw and catch with his dog" he snapped
"You only so that with freinds" Gina snapped back
"We just met today"
"That's enough, I stopped them from arguing further
" Whats with the toys mom?
There were new toys scattered all over the floor and table
"Grams freind bought them for us"
"Grams does she mean Delia"
"yea she does and I have something to show you" mom said she pulled out a flier, handed it to me. It was a vacancy for a Santa claus performer, female to be precise for home parties.
" The pay is good" I had to admit it.
"you only go when you have gigs, take a break from the store and resort, Christmas is next week Sunday, so you can have time to spend Christmas with us and also enjoy Christmas" Mom said to me, it was a damn good offer, I had have good sleep alot of it enjoy private parties as a Santa actor.
"Am not sure they might give me a leave, now Christmas is approaching" I said thoughtfully,
"They will cause you haven't took a leave before my darling"
Damn she was right, I have never took one I might just take the offer it seem very good.
"Thank you mom, got to take a shower"

I took the leave from the resort when I went to work, then took another the next day at the store. It was Sunday, we had a good meal after church service and we went to the playground I was to check out the Santa job tomorrow and for some reasons I couldn't explain I was excited.
I had never done a Santa claus actor gig before maybe a teddy bear who shared fliers for brands but that wasn't much of a big deal, I had plenty doubts I could handle kids, or could I even give presents they like?
What if thier parents think I was too fake?
Why did they even did a female? Did they want a more feminine Santa? Was she even feminine enough?
"Why don't you go out with friends than hang here in park? Mom jolted me from my thoughts
" don't have any, besides Emily is at her boyfriend's on Sunday,Roland has these Chinese guy he took on a karaoke date, so I can only hang out here, don't u want me here?
" I do baby, stop fretting you got this and make more friends please "she jested
