Chapter 6 - Forming the bond

"Sorry Edward, I didn't mean to get so involved." I started blushing as I looked up at Edward.

"It's ok Alina. Know that I would never cross that line no matter how tempting you may make it." He started laughing to calm the tension. "Remember, I am more of a man's man."

Now that I had started working Alexander's emotions and hoping to have caused him a bit of pain by watching his mate dance with another, I moved off the dance floor and started thanking everything as they told me Happy Birthday. Alexander was behind me when I turned around, and I ran right into him. The girl I was talking with started giggling.

"Can I assist you, Alexander?" I tried to be sassy in my tone.

"Yes, you cannot dance like that again with me watching." He whispered in my ear as he pulled me into a hug. "Also, Happy Birthday."

"I have no mate that wants me so I shall do as I please without cause." I spat back at him and moved away.

"Alina cake or presents first?" My mom asked as she came up to me. She looked between me and Alexander with a smirk on her face.

"Let's do presents. That way if no one is done eating they can finish up before cake.

"Sounds good, let's go." As she pulled me to the present table. I was never fond of having everyone get me gifts. Thankfully I convinced them to go in together to get one item as a whole and then my parents could get me one. I had everything I needed already.

"Open the packs first Alina!" Courtney yelled. Courtney was my best friend growing up. She was still a few years younger. So, when I started into college and prepping as Luna of the pack we drifted apart. But still close enough to hang out on weekends and do things together.

I began unwrapping the present. "Oh, my goodness, thank you everyone! This is absolutely beautiful." I unwrapped a white gold picture frame for me to put my degree in.

"Keep going there is one more item in there." Edward told me.

"Seriously you guys shouldn't have." I moved the tissue paper to reveal a new iPad and Apple Pencil. I started to get teary eyed. This would help so much with assignments at school. "You really shouldn't have but Thank You all so much." My mom came up and exchanged the box with another.

"This is from the Alpha and Luna of Gold Leaf" I couldn't believe they remembered my birthday and took the time to get me a gift. I began undoing the silver wrapping paper on the small box. As I opened it my eyes flew up to see Luna Rosemary smiling ear to ear. OMG she knows, how does she know. I looked back down at Sapphire earrings that matched Alexander's eyes perfectly.

"They are beautiful, thank you so much." I said as I took them out of the box and put them in.

"Of course, sweet Alina. I hope you like the color. It will stand out against your black hair." She said and Alpha George nodded my way.

"Final gift for you my dear child." My dad handing me another small box.

My dad always tried to be extravagant. I hope that he wasn't going to be this time. I opened the wrapping paper to another jewelry box. As I opened it it was a matching sapphire pendant on a white gold chain. "Oh, thank you dad and mom. It matches the earrings perfectly."

"Of course, my child. Enjoy your gifts and the gift of me not going overboard as usual." He started laughing as he walked to the house to prep the planner to bring the cake out.

I started walking into the crowd and telling everyone thank you while giving them a hug. Alexander wasn't on my mind now, until I felt hands on my hips. His hot breath on my ear "I have a gift for you as well. I will find you after cake." and just like that he was gone again.

This boy was toying with me because of my dancing. I just knew it was a game now. My dad waved me over to the table. The DJ started softly playing happy birthday as the pack and other guests started singing out of sync. It was the best rendition of the song ever. I bent down and blew out the 21 candles. My mom always did the exact number of candles instead of the numbered candles. She said it's fun to see how many you can get the first try as you get older.

I did not make a wish this year but instead thanked the Moon Goddess for all I have.

"This cake is delicious. Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. My favorite on my birthday. We had 3 large cakes total to feed all the guests. After I completed mine, I got up to go inside a minute. I needed to find a restroom.

As I came out of the restroom and entered the kitchen again, Alexander pulled me into the pantry. "I wanted privacy to give you your final gift." He said as he pulled my body to his and held me there. I didn't say a word; I was frozen at this contact. Scent or no scent, his body this close was making mine react. He placed his hand on the back of my head and leaned down and took my first kiss. He started slow, our lips moving in sync perfectly. I couldn't help but kiss him back. His hand holding onto the back of head with my hair intertwining in his fingers. He took my hand and placed the necklace in my hand. He then closed my hand around it and pulled away. Our kiss deepened as I breathed in his scent. I tried to pull back but he hung on tightly. His tongue licked my lips for entry. I couldn't deny him at all now that I was in his arms and his scent intoxicating me. After several minutes he pulled us apart. "Happy Birthday Alina. I Alexander Sanlord of the Gold Lead Pack accept your mate bond to me. I claim you as mine if you will have me. And this necklace is yours to destroy. I will never hide from you again." I was left breathless and motionless, staring at him like he just didn't deny me yesterday.

"I can't accept this, you hurt me. How do you think I will take you so easily now. You told me just yesterday you did not want a mate. You were not ready." I started raising my voice.

"I talked with my parents. I had always had a connection to you and on my own 21st birthday, I knew you were mine. You were not ready for it yet, and I was not ready for it yet. That is why we haven't visited in many years. I convinced my parents that I was sick, or I would do something stupid that they would reconsider leaving for a trip." I could have easily stayed home, but you would have scented me on them. Please accept me Alina. I have a brother that can take the Alpha role. I will come here to be with you. Your father knows of this connection. He is the Alpha of the pack, and he has watched us around each other as kids and the day I learned of you as my mate. He was in the room with you and I and saw the way I reacted. Please Alina, I am begging you to forgive me." He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into him. I could feel how my scent was affecting him. His erection was pushing hard against my stomach. his scent was mixed with his arousal.

"You have denied me for 3 damn years and think that I am going to just jump in your arms in an instant? Is something wrong with you, are you that conceded. Do you think I am that in need of a guy, which is how you're acting. I always thought my mate would hold what the Moon Goddess gave us as a special gift. Not try to do anything to stay away from it. And another question, why does your necklace keep your scent from me?" I pushed him away and went for the pantry door. He pulled me back into the pantry. He didn't wrap himself around me this time.

"It's a magical necklace I had made, just in case of any visits your family made. I know I was only thinking of myself. I thought because I was first born that I had to lead the pack that I had to be the Alpha. I knew how strongly you felt about leaving your pack and that you didn't want to. I did not want you to have to choose. Last night after talking with our parents, I learned I don't have to be Alpha of my pack. I can be your mate and Alpha here. I can be here with you. My brother will take place as Alpha there. They had a feeling that we were mates and prepped for this day. Please Alina, please forgive me." He got on his knees begging and holding my hands. Something clicked inside me that made me feel dominant. That he was being submissive to me. Why were his actions turning me on. "Alina, is that yes?" He said as he smelled the air.

"I never said yes, Alexander. I can't help my reaction to you as my mate. I need time to think. I need more answers about why you didn't want me, why you hid from me. As much as I physically want you from the bond and as much as my wolf is fighting me. It hurts; it really hurts." I started crying. I quickly ran from the pantry up to my room. I was still holding his necklace in my hand. It had his scent all over it. All I really wanted to do was hold him and for us to make things right. But, if I gave in that easily, I would regret it the rest of my life.

I fell into a deep sleep from all my crying. I dreamt of holding him. His scent enveloped me, and I felt warm and calm in my dreams. It was as if he was right there with me. Holding me tightly, enjoying each other. Just being together, the way the Moon Goddess wanted. It all felt so real. In my dream he started rubbing his hand on my side. It felt so real, I pinched myself. I started stirring in my sleep. I felt like I couldn't move and his scent was overpowering me. I thought I was waking to his rejection the way the pain felt. I started opening my eyes and saw him staring at me. Was I still dreaming?

"Alina, let me fix our bond. Let me please heal your heart. I want you. I was wrong. So very wrong." Alexander's sleepy voice was so deep and husky. Then he pushed me onto my back and kissed me. My body was reacting in ways I didn't know how to respond.
