Chapter 2 - His Arrival

1968 Words
After hours of hanging out with Beta Lucas and none of my plans working, I had not even had 10 minutes to myself, unless it was to excuse myself to the restroom. We didn't have windows in our pack house guest bathrooms. I was running out of options. "Beta Lucas, it has been a stuffy day. You know I can't be kept in the house all day. Let's go together for a run." "As long as your father agrees and a few of the warriors join us. I can't take a chance on your being sneaky and running off." He smirked at me when he said it. "I knew you would see through me. You know I must try. But seriously, can we do anything fun?" I was begging, just begging to get out of the house at that point. He smirked again. I could see he was coming up with a plan of his own. Beta Lucas was mostly serious, but he had a son of his own and knew the trouble we would cause together. "Let's go out for dinner tonight, shall we?" I knew he was planning something. I just couldn't put my finger on it yet. "Sure Beta, but what is the catch?" This kid was smart and was going to make a great Alpha. She just needed to learn to control herself more and reign in on her curiosity. "No catch, but others will be joining us." I did not want to know who. I already knew. With Alexander arriving soon, I am sure he would be the one joining. Only when we had visitors coming in did we go to the city. A few of the werewolves lived in the city. Mainly those who had control of themselves. Those that could blend into a normal world and never let out their secret. Alpha helped them setup several businesses in the city. One of them is my favorite restaurant, 'Joint Alimentaire' (Food Joint). When my dad offered Frances the restaurant after his wife died, he couldn't figure out a name for it. His mate had been French and he loved food! The name was perfect for him, and he only cooks food that was his mate's favorite. Only us werewolves know this. Humans go because he is an amazing cook. The smell hit me again. Drifting from the kitchen, I could smell the most sweet, amazing cinnamon smell. That must be Marie's cinnamon rolls. She always starts making them when we are going to have guests. "Beta Lucas, to the kitchen, I know that smell is the cinnamon rolls." "You know I can't resist Marie's cinnamon rolls." as he pushed open the kitchen door. "Marie, those are amazing!" the smell of the sugary icing mixed with the cinnamon had my mouth watering. "Sit Beta Lucas and Alina I made extra. You two always find your way to the kitchen when I am cooking them." She had a glint in her eye that she knew us so well. Marie was a widowed she wolf. Her mate and herself never had any children; she took care of us all with how well she could cook. I sat at the large bar as she placed a huge cinnamon roll in front of me. "Excuse me Miss Alina, I will return in a moment." Beta Lucas said. "No worries, Beta, you have until this cinnamon roll is gone. After that I will not guarantee my whereabouts." I smirked at him as he knew I couldn't leave my seat until it was gone. He had maybe 10-15 minutes to care for what he needed to. "Excuse me Marie..." But she must have left the kitchen for a moment. Moments later, I was enjoying the icing off this piece of roll. Enjoying the sugary cinnamon smell dancing in my senses. What I did not realize was that the same smell from that night was now in the kitchen. As my senses began to come alive, I realized that it was cedar and cinnamon mixed. With no one in the kitchen with me, I was not too worried. My dad kept the house patrolled well so that we did not have intruders. The little hairs on the back of my neck began to rise. As I looked to the left, I saw him. He looked to be about 6'1, slightly tanned skin, dark dirty blonde curly hair and his eyes were sapphires dancing in the light. "Hello, would you like a cinnamon roll?" that is all I could seem to ask now. He walked over to me, but when he got closer, I couldn't smell the cedar and cinnamon. He took a hand towel and gently wiped it across my lips. "Hello Alina, do you remember me?" The only one that came to mind was Alexander. This gorgeous, muscle-built frame is not one I have seen around here. "Alexander, you, you're all grown up!" I could see the gleam in his eye and the smirk as his right cheek raised to show a half smile. "I could say the same for you." His statement was blank of emotions, but the way his eyes trailed my body I began to feel less secure with myself. He slowly turned so that he was now leaning backwards on the bar with his elbows resting on it. I could tell his eyes were still on me my body heated up. I kept telling myself it was OK to be turned on by a gorgeous man. I will find my mate, and he will be everything to me. Our worlds will mold into one. As you see, my father did not let me date. As the next Alpha, it was my priority to wait for my mate. But, while most happened to find their mate by the age of 20, I was one of the few still waiting. "Alexander, I see you found Miss Alina. Alpha is ready to see you now. Why don't we go while Alina helps Marie finish up the dishes? I will be back in a few moments, Alina." Beta Lucas stiffened when he entered the kitchen. Almost as though he knew he was interrupting a private moment. I didn't even realize he had rejoined us. Or, that Marie was busy cleaning up. Neither of them said anything when they entered. I was too naive to believe this interaction was more. His scent did not speak to my soul. Alexander: I was excited about getting to the Silver Moon Pack house. The summer had been lingering where our pack is from. Here it was cooler and the Autumn change was in full gear and awaiting the final leaves to fall for winter. The way that Alpha Conri had the front of the home made it looked so welcoming. Alpha Conri was always so welcoming to our pack as well as many others. He was wonderful at alliances. It helped to keep peace in our world as we lived among humans so much. I opened the door of the SUV and stepped out of the driver's seat. The wonderful smell of cinnamon rolls caught my attention. "Beta Rieka, how wonderful to see you again. It has been too many years since my last visit." I said as she came up to me when I opened the door. "How wonderful to see you. I know the Alpha and Luna are so excited and haven't stopped talking about your family visit for weeks." I remember her being so calm when I was younger. Now you could feel the excitement in her tone. "I came a few days before their arrival. It has been so long since my last road trip I just couldn't wait" I always enjoyed being able to step away by myself. It allowed me time to clear my mind. "A good road trip is always so fulfilling. Come in, Marie has just finished making cinnamon rolls and she is famous for them. It's been years since you have had one as well." So, we began walking into the house. "Make yourself at home and I will let the Alpha and Luna know of your arrival. The kitchen is right over there through those doors." And just like that, Beta Rieka was on her way. I walked to the door, and the cinnamon rolls smelled mouthwatering. But, not as mouthwatering as the smell that followed. The aroma of cherries mixed with chocolate and just a touch of earth. I had never smelt anything so strong. It must be my mate. I am not ready to meet or acknowledge my mate as I am next in line for Alpha of my pack. I know my dad said that when I did find her, she would become Luna of our pack, but I just was not ready. I pulled the enchanted necklace from my pocket and placed it around my neck. The onyx pendant on it I placed under my shirt, so it went unnoticed. I got the pendant from a black witch that resides near our pack. We have a good alliance and agree to stay away from each other. A month before my 18th birthday, I went for a run to visit her. I advised her I needed something to mask my scent as I did not want to leave our pack or find my mate until I felt ready. Shamari (the witch) felt that by helping me it would keep our alliance in order. I did have to agree that one day I owe her just as large a favor. Pushing the door to the kitchen open, I immediately stopped just steps inside near the bar of the kitchen. The most alluring gray eyes stared back at me, specks of gold around the pupil as the gray moved like dark clouds in the sky. Her black hair is placed in a messy bun, and her skin is as smooth as cream. All I could think about was how her soft pink lips would taste against mine. "Hello, would you like a cinnamon roll?" She asked as she devoured a large piece. Icing sticking to her lips and surroundings. It was all I could do but go up and kiss this girl. I walked towards her and could feel her heartbeat rise. I saw a hand towel on the bar and grabbed it. I slowly wiped her bottom lip. Watching her lips turn darker from the slight pressure. I breathed in her erotic smell. "Hello Alina, do you remember me?" I watched as her eyes looked over me, lingering and slowly rising back to my eyes. I began to smirk at her reaction. "Alexander is that you, you're all grown up!" Trying to hide her pleasure in what she saw in me. "I could say the same for you." I tried to keep my response short and blank because of the emotions running through my mind currently. That had nothing to do with why I was here, but only to do with the things I wanted to do to her in s****l ways. I leaned back on the bar on my elbows to keep from wanting to touch her. I stared at her and could feel her squirm against the chair as her body was heating up. "Alexander, I see you found Miss Alina. Alpha is ready to see you now. Why don't we go while Alina helps Marie finish up the dishes? I will be back in a few moments, Alina." Beta Lucas stiffened when he entered the kitchen. I wonder if he could sense the connection that, if allowed, would have been between us. I am going to have to be extra careful while we are here. I must wear this necklace and make sure that it never comes off.
