A typical day for me consisted of business meetings, business meals and a lot of a fast paced walking that was on the verge of jogging. After working hours, I liked to exercise at my home gym, shower and sleep, but today, I had to skip exercising for an interview that I didn't sign up. I was a little irked because exercising was another one of my relaxing activities. I tried to argue with Nia, but she insisted that in the long term, I'd have to work less. I would just mumble that I don't want another man in my home under my breath, but she would give me a death glare. I was basically a dog with its tail tucked between its leg. You can criticize me all you want, but you haven't seen Nia's glare.
I was finally at the time of day where I could rest a little in my office, and by rest, I mean sit and read through hundreds of pages with font ten lettering. I was almost through when I read a scholarship proposal. I was trying to create a scholarship for high school girls that had a single mom in a low income household. I was lucky enough that Sam loaned me even more money for online classes, but if I wasn't able to get any money, I wouldn't have been able to afford any higher education. My grades started dropping after Damon left, so I lost my chance of getting full rides. I wanted to make a scholarship that would give full rides for girls who might not even have the time to study. I reread all the conditions and rules, as I started getting into the paperwork. I'd have to let my lawyers examine the terms and conditions later.
The last paper was another one of my proposals- the SR Nanochip Giveaway. SR stood for my initials. I wasn't the most creative back then. The company is also called SR Medical. The proposal was to give a thousand SR Nanochips away to the lowest income household participants with medical complications. I paused. Why were all my proposals on the bottom? Was it because there would be no financial benefit? I'd have to speak to my financial department later. I finished all the paperwork as I called Nia in to discuss my schedule for the next week.
One second we were all professional. The next we were joking and laughing. Nia was there from the beginning of my company. She was also taking the same business classes as me, and we both bonded online. We would message each other all day, so I trusted her with my life story and the company's top secrets like how the technology was made. I had 10 minutes until the next meeting, so we gossiped while Liam just sat there stoic.
He was ready at a moment's notice, but occasionally his eyes would wander to Nia. Nia was bending over my desk so that her generous behind was in the direction of Liam. My eyes met with Liam, and he whipped his head forward as if I totally didn't catch him checking her out.
The rest of the day was all business, but it gave me happiness that my technology was changing people's lives for the better as tiring as it was. As I was nearing my home, I could see a large black van parked in my driveway. The butler interview I groaned inwardly.
Liam opened the door for me and followed me to my front door. "Good night, ma'am," he bluntly said. He turned and got into his black Toyota Corolla to go home. I liked being home alone which was why my home wasn't as big as other millionaires.
It had 3 bathrooms and 4 rooms. The basement had stone walls on the entire left wall and the rest of the walls had light poplar wood walls and a reflective black marble ceiling. The stairs to the basement would lead to my gym that was separated from the swimming pool with glass. The main floor had the living room, kitchen, dining room and a room with a bathroom next to it. The entire floor was light poplar wood flooring. The living room, kitchen and dining room was designed to be modern with mostly white furniture and occasional gray. The room on the main floor was my office room. The second floor was just the guest rooms and my room. The famous interior designer made the house sleek and modern, but my room had my old furniture which clashed with the designs of the master bedroom. I felt like it made it feel more homey, but I think the interior designer's soul died a little that day when he saw me move my furniture into the room.
What I would have done as soon as I got home was to close the blinds and take off my pants. I liked to wander around in my underwear because I was uncomfortable in my usual business attire of slacks. I lived alone so try not to judge me. However, today I would have to act like a decent human being and keep my clothes on.
I walked in to see around five candidates for my butler. The closest one to me was the oldest. I observed that the next one looked slightly younger. I guess they arranged it from youngest to oldest. I strolled past the oldest butler to examine all of them and to begin the interview despite not knowing how to judge them on skills.
Another man who was not in line popped up behind me as I was trying to examine all of the butler's faces. I jumped a little. Good thing you didn't grab me mister, or else I might have broken your arm. Uneasily, I turned around. He was stiff as a board with his chin pointing upward.
"Madam. I would like to introduce you our trained butlers and assist you on deciding one of our excellent butlers. They were the top graduates, and without a shadow of doubt, one of these will fit your needs. Starting from the left to right: Hubert Stockholm, Patrick Anderson, Jenny Park, Max Anderson and Damon Sallow."
My eyes went wide. Sallow was the rare last name of Damon's mother. Too much of a coincidence. I urgently walked over to him, and my jaw dropped. Damon Williams, my ex-best friend, now Damon Sallow was standing in front of me without an emotion on his face staring through me.
