The Hunt Begins part 2

554 Words
As she leads Joseph to her designated spot Rosalyn began thinking over her plan. She knew from when he first stepped into the cafe that something was off about him. The way he looked at her. It was as if he recognized her even though she had never seen him before in her life. Only one person in the whole city knew that Rosalyn had powers and that was Mariah. They had been friends since Rosalyn was orphaned by the hunter. She was the one who helped her live on her own and hide her powers. She knew that Mariah would never rat her out to anyone. Yet here she was walking with a witch hunter. When he ordered she noticed the handle for a sword poking out of the side of his backpack.  She had talked to Mariah about her suspicion. Mariah being the great friend she was said to try to investigate it. For Rosalyn, it seemed the only way to get to see if he really was a hunter was to get him alone and see if he would attack. She knew it was risky but she had to.  She had quickly chosen a small spot close to the Witch Woods. Far enough from the city that no one would see her use her powers and no o to get caught in the middle of the fight if it were to happen. As they were getting closer to the spot she decided to try to talk to him. She told him her name. Oh, that's a nice name." He had replied. She noticed his hand reaching into the backpack though.  Just before he could strike her with the taser she moved out of the way and grabbed his hand. Sure enough, she was right and he had gotten a taser out. She decided to play dumb until he admitted that he knew about her secret. "What do you think you're doing?" She said. "What? Do you think I'm an i***t?" He replied. "I'm sure by now you know what I do for a living," he said while pulling his arm out of her grasp and pulling out the sword.  "Shit." was all Rosalyn could say. She turned and ran as fast as she could to the pond. At least she could finally use her powers. She knew he would be running after her. She turned around and was able to move some water to form an ice sword. It wouldn't be able to last long but she had no weapons on her.  Joseph was now running toward her, sword in hand and sliced through the air. Rosalyn ducked and blocked the attack with her makeshift sword. She tried her best to fight him off but she knew that it would only be a matter of time before she got too tired to use her powers. She moved her left hand and threw some rocks at him. Enough to blind him and allow her to run. Breathing heavily she ran as fast as she could to the woods. She had no other choice but to go there. She was able to escape him for now but she knew he would be coming back to get her. Witch hunters only stopped after they killed their mark, a lesson Rosalyn knew all too well.
