One | she’s here

Finn p.o.v My heart was racing, my hands were clammy and my breathing was unsteady, but I couldn’t work out why. My wolf, Everest, felt it too he’d been on edge since we arrived at Emerald City three days ago. My Beta, Jackson and I were here for business and business only until he convinced me this morning that we needed a night off. I’m not much of a drinker or partier but I know Jackson and know he needs to let loose so he can focus again, especially if we’re too close this deal with the Mayor.  So here we stand in line outside this alternative club in downtown, not my scene at all, this place looks like an absolute dive and I couldn’t wait to leave, I had a really off feeling being here and Everest howling in my head was starting to trigger a migraine.  As we moved up in the line towards security Jackson was telling me about this “bird” he’d met on tinder whose band was playing here tonight. Of course, a girl is involved, hopefully, they hit it off so I can go home and rid myself of this headache I thought.  “Why must you refer to girls as ‘birds’? Do they even like it?” I asked him, “not all of us are gentlemen like you Finlay, plus I haven’t heard any complaints” Jackson shrugged. Once inside I sat at the bar and ordered a lime soda feeling very out of place watching a group of younger humans walk past with facial piercings, Mohawks, and ripped jeans. Not my scene at all I thought suddenly become self-conscious of my fitted jeans, dress shoes, and a button-up shirt. The venue was grimey, reeked of weed, cigarette, and beer, the floor was sticky and the DJ was playing some kind of pop-punk music, I couldn’t wait to leave. Suddenly the lights dimmed and a group of girls walked out on stage, “there she is man, the little one” Jackson yelled over the crowd pointing at the vocalist. I looked up, and there she was the most beautiful girl I’d seen in my entire life and she was looking right at me. “Mine” Everest growled in my mind, then just like that the smell of stale beer and cigarettes disappeared and the room was filled with the beautiful scent of vanilla and coconut. Her scent. “Mate” I found myself saying as I watched her and her band start to play. Jackson was looking between me and my mate and realized what was happening “oh for f**k sake” he said throwing back his drink and walking into the crowd. This was probably the third time he’d found a girl only for her to end up being one of our mates. Jackson has been my best friend since we were in diapers and has always been unlucky in love, hopefully, he finds his mate soon so I stopped getting dragged to these places.  I stayed at the bar in awe of this girl, I thought I was nervous outside but now I’m about to have a f*****g heart attack, I needed air but I couldn’t move I was captivated watching her. She stood no higher than 5’4, she had long dark hair that fell around her hips, flawless porcelain skin with tattoos here and there and these bright forest green eyes, god those eyes, even from across the room I was lost in them; her eyes not leaving mine once. On paper she wasn’t my type, I had always dated tall, tan, blondes but if this is who the Goddess has willed for me I wasn’t going to argue I’ve been waiting years for her. As her set went on I began to notice I wasn’t the only one mesmerized by her, almost everyone in the room was, even the humans and the mated wolves, unusual I thought.
