Tyla felt it the moment she stepped into the corridor, Arthur’s hand firm around hers. Every torch along the stone hallway flickered as if bowing away from them, shadows stretching unnaturally long against the walls. The air tasted metallic. Heavy. Full of warning. Arthur noticed it too. His eyes shifted to gold before they reached the stairs. “Stay close,” he murmured. Her fingers curled tighter against his palm. “I’m not leaving your side.” He didn’t say it, but she felt it through the bond— Good. I wouldn’t let you. They were halfway down the stairwell when a thunderous crash shook the palace. Screams erupted from below. The scent of blood hit Tyla
