Chapter 08 Elouise’s POV My days were sluggish and empty. Time trickled by like the spitting rain outside my bedroom window. It became numbers on a clock that I waited to pass, breathing in a second at a time. It was only a matter of time before I saw Lucas again. At the thought of it, the seconds pounded away in a laugh, and I found myself begging the numbers to slow down again. There would be a knock at the door. I would ignore it. Whenever it came back, because it always did, there was a voice that called for me to come out. I would ignore that too. Nobody has seen me since I ran. Not Jack, not Liz, and especially not Lucas.
