CHAPTER FOUR

I spend the rest of the week, excited for my new job, I haven't seen Reid all week too, all I got from him was a message he passed through Mrs. Ann. It was a recommendation letter that stated I was to join Finance management team. I don't know much about it but I'm sure I would love learning it. Reid instructed that I am to be known as just Aria Bailey at work, it's a good idea too, I wouldn't want my colleagues to be uncomfortable around me because I am the bosses wife. My parents and Isabella make sure to be on the pages of as much tabloids as possible and a few times with Leah, they never really include me but I've never been too bothered, since I despise attention, I've never been known to be able to speak out in public, I can be stubborn and sarcastic a few times but only when spooked beyond my limit.
It's Monday, and I refuse to go out with a driver, I pick the least flashy car in the garage, and manage to navigate my way to work.
I walk into the building and head towards the receptionist table, she smiles when I'm right in front of her and I almost visibly cringe at the bright red lipstick she's wearing and how obviously fake her smile is. "Welcome to the Martinez Corporations ma'am, what can I do for you?" you can wipe that smile off your face please, I badly want to say.
"uhm I'm a new staff here, the finance management department." I try to briefly explain, offering her a tight smile back and handing her my recommendation letter, I don't know how this is usually done. She directs me to head to the 20th floor.
The elevator ride is relaxing, the elevator dings open to a crowd of chaos, everyone's running around and speaking in hurried tunes and I'm confused. I step in cautiously and step in, the hallway is filled with people holding piles of papers and walking hurriedly, I check the time and it's just 9 in the morning, what's the fuss about, I'm sure most offices works are not usually like this unless something very important is going on. I almost want to turn around and head back home.
I take cautious steps trying to look for the least busy person to ask for help, a man knocks my shoulders hard and I hiss out in pain, he turns and instead of apologizing, he gives me a look filled with disdain and growls, "watch were you are going girl." and I scoff in disbelief, you must be kidding me.
I know I look younger and smaller than my age but he didn't after to be so disrespectful after hitting me, his head disappears over the crowd as he walks away.
"Are you okay?" a young pretty blonde lady asks me.
"yeah, I'm fine." I release a breath.
"Don't worry about Alex, he's always an asshole to everyone," she says gesturing her head towards the crazy fellow that hit me.
"Oh, it's fine." I tell her. "Aria," I say holding out my hand.
"Tessa," she introduces back smiling,
"why is everyone running around?" I'm too curious to hold back.
"Mr. Reid needs the report on the finances for our new project by 10 this morning, hence the running around, our boss here doesn't want to fall short and receive a verbal lashing." I try not to react. Reid might be an asshole but I've never really been at the receiving end of his cruelty so I wouldn't still fully understand what the fuss was about. "
"Could you help me out please, I'm trying to find the finance management department,"
"This entire floor is the finance management department darling." she gestures around, my mouth forms an ohh.
"I'm new here, and I'm trying to find who's in charge." she looks at me in surprise.
"You are new?"
"Yeah," I nod, she looks at me unsure before saying
"The guy who just bumped into you is the boss here." she looks like she's waiting for my reaction.
"The rude guy?" I ask to be sure,
"hmm,mm". Oh dear, I was really excited for this job and now I'm beginning to feel uneasy about it. "I'm sure Alex is too busy to attend to you right now, why don't I take you to go wait in his office." she smiles reassuringly at me. I wait for more than two hours before the man of the hour walks into his office and purses after noticing me, he eyes me with a frown before walking towards his seat.
I stand when he asks rudely, "you are…??"
"Aria Bailey," he sits up straighter.
"You are the new employee Mr. Reid informed me about." his tone judging me for some reason. I hand him my recommendation letter and politely say,
"yes Sir."
"you little girls will never change will you? Always chasing after your desires with what is between your legs," he says snarling at me and my jaw almost drops.
Did he just say that to me, "Excuse me?" I am dumbfounded at the point. I breath in deeply, I'm sure I can tolerate a jerk of boss.
"Find Tessa, she'll show you to your desk." he says looking at me with disgust, I don't know what I did to have him hate me at first s
ight, it seems that's all everyone keeps doing these days.
