When Matty enters the corridor and finds Samara crying her eyes out on the ground, he instantly goes to her and places his hand on her shoulder. Samara lifts her tear-filled eyes towards Matty and starts to weep again.
Matty could not comprehend her reaction and feels she got scared of the monsters. In fact, the scene of blood everywhere on the walls and ground twists his guts as well.
He holds her in his arms and starts to rock her, “Don’t worry Samara, everything is okay. The monsters are dead and you are safe.”
The warmth of his body and consoling words calms her down and she pulls herself from his embrace. She sniffs slowly and utters, “I think we should be moving.”
Samara raises herself from the ground and starts for the elevator, while Matty looks at her indifferent attitude.
