Chapter 3

Millicent's POV

I looked at all my clothes trying to decide what I could wear to hide my mark. I knew that if I did not my parents might kill me or something of the sorts. I found and grabbed a sweater and put on jeans. I had no idea how I was going to hide this thing tonight at the party.

Maggie and I left my room and headed to our parents quarters. Mitch followed us. It seems as though this is going to be a big family meeting. I had no idea what I was about to walk in to.

"Millicent, I am so sorry to have locked you in your room all night. I hope you understand why." My mother spoke her red eyes peering in to my soul. I hate when she does that. It is like she is trying to control me. It never works though.

"Millicent we have had guards looking for Kane all night. We have not been able to find him." My dad informs me. 'That bastard better show up soon or I might just kill his mother.' my father said in his head.

I try to hold composure at his words. I had to find Kane's mom and warn her.

"Dad, no need to worry. When you find him I plan on rejecting him anyway." I tell my parents and my wolf whimpers at my words.

Both my parents looked shocked at my words. "Are you sure you want to do that?"

My mother asks me.

"When I was eleven Kane told me he no longer wanted to be around me. I was heart broken. I want him to feel the same way I did when he rejected me then." I told my parents even though I know that it is far from the truth.

"Okay, well I think this calls for a celebration. You are still turning eighteen and your party is still tonight so lets get ready!" My mother tells me excitedly.

Mitch, Maggie, and I all leave together. I ask them to come to my room through the mind link in ten minutes as to not be suspicious.

Ten minutes have passed and my siblings walk in to my room with breakfast.

'Is the guard still out there?' I ask through the mind link.

"No, I sent him away. Told him we can watch you." Mitch told me.

"So what is the plan? Do I really have to reject Kane?" I ask them.

"No, you are marked so you cannot reject your mate. Not even in death." Maggie tells me.

I sigh relieved that I get to keep Kane forever. "What are we doing then?" I ask them.

"Mitch is going to go to Kane tomorrow. We will tell him that we are still planning on what to do. Mitch has found refuge with a neighboring pack. We are waiting for him in order to move over there." Maggie tells me.

"Though at this point I think all of us are going to have to play along with mommy and daddy until we have a kill plan." Mitch says mockingly. He hated our parents. He stuck around just for me when he turned eighteen, so did Maggie.

"Millicent, for now just hangout in here. Get ready for your party. Also we need to figure out how to cover your mark since you chose a sleeveless dress. I will be back at lunch to time with supplies to cover it." Maggie informs me.

I was bored. I could hear my wolf whining. She wanted to run. I was not allowed to leave the castle no matter what. She would have to wait until tonight after the party when everyone was in bed. I wanted to be near Kane. He was all I could think about.

It was finally time for lunch I could hear my stomach growling. Maggie walked in with lunch and I was super excited to see her.

"Your food has arrived." Maggie says laughing.

"I am so bored and my wolf will not stop whining. She wants to run. I keep telling her no but she whines even louder. Do you ever get used to hearing your wolf?" I asked Maggie.

"Yes, it takes a couple months." Maggie tells me.

Well that was good to hear at least. I was excited to see Maggie. I was going crazy and the guard just ignores me.

"I sent the guard away. Take your sweater off I have stage make up to hide the mark on you. Grab your makeup please." Maggie tells me.

"My mark is the only thing that has me connected to Kane right now. I feel sad that I cannot wear it proudly now." I told Maggie.

"I understand but hiding it is what will save you. Millie you are our only hope right now." Maggie says.

"Why am I the only hope? What do you mean? Maggie I need answers please." I tell Maggie.

Everyone keeps saying that I am their only hope. Why? Why me? I am nothing special.

"Maggie, there is something that I have not told anyone. I can read other people's thoughts. Dad called me a Lycan and he said this morning that if they could not find Kane that he would kill his mom. Maggie, I will not let him do that to her. We need to figure something out. Get her out of the castle. Can we get her to the pack who is going to help us?" I asked her desperately.

"I will talk to Mitch. Millie, it will be okay. I need to cover your mark up before you get ready so please let me do that." Maggie tells me softly.

We heard a knock at the door. We both froze in fear.

"Millicent? Can I come in? It is Fran. Kane's mom." A lady with a soft voice says.

"Yes Fran, please join my sister and I." I tell her.

"How is my Kaney boy? Is he safe? Did he make it alright?" She asks worriedly.

"He is great and safe. We are coming up with a plan to get all of us somewhere safe. Especially you Fran." I tell her. "I overheard my father saying if they do not find Kane that he is going to kill you himself." I tell her scared of what might happen.

"It will be alright. We are going to get through this. Kane is a big boy he can handle himself. Did he mark you by chance?" Fran asks.

"Yes my sister and I are covering it up so I parents will not know that we have bonded with one another." I tell her.

"Let me help you guys out." Fran says grabbing all the materials off the bed and taking them to my vanity.

Fran and Maggie left and I looked in the mirror at the now covered mark. I felt sad but I could still feel the sparks it gave me when I touched it.

It was almost time for the party. My mom and sister helped me get ready.

"Now usually you drink the blood of your father and I at midnight. However Kane is still missing. Unfortunately we will not be doing that. But we can still celebrate your life ending and your new one beginning soon. We wish it would have gone differently but you cannot predict the future." My mother told me.

After they left I looked at myself in the mirror. All of a sudden I was jerked into the ballroom. At my feet I saw Kane. It was almost an out of body experience.

"I Millicent Jean Gregory of the now fallen Sapphire Moon pack reject you Kane Nathan Manson of the fallen Sapphire Moon pack." I hear myself say.

I see Kane tearing up as he chokes back the words.

"I Kane Nathan Manson of the now fallen Sapphire Moon pack reject you Millicent Jean Gregory of the fallen Sapphire moon pack." Kane says crying out every word.

All of a sudden I was jolted back to my bedroom. I have no idea what it was that I saw.

'Millie, I think we just saw the future.' My wolf informs me.

"Not possible. I am not able to reject Kane. We are marked. What does this mean?" I say out loud as my sister walks in.

"Millie, is everything okay?" Maggie asks.

"Maggie, I think I just saw the future. I rejected Kane and he excepted. What does this mean?" I ask her frantically.

"Lucky for you, you cannot reject your mate. Maybe this is what we need to do. Have our parents on our side. We will talk tonight before Mitch leaves to talk to Kane." Maggie tells me.

"For now lets get you to that party." Maggie says as she ushers me out of my room.

I spent the whole party thinking about that vision. I tried to be present but I was worried.

"Wipe that frown off your face." My mother tells me.

"Sorry, I am just anxious about finding Kane. I am ready to reject him so I can become a vampire." I tell her knowing that is far from the truth.

I hated being in this room now. Knowing what was going to come. That vision had me completely freaked out.

It was nearing midnight and people were making their way out of the castle. I made my way up to my room. I waited until two in the morning for my brother and sister to come.

I was just about to dose off when I heard Mitch and Maggie come in.

"How is the fortune teller?" My brother asks me teasingly.

"Fine, I guess. I am a little freaked out. My wolf also wants to run but I am afraid that if she gets out she will run to Kane." I tell them.

"Do not worry. I think I have deciphered your vision." Mitch says. "We need our parents to think we are on their side. I will go to Kane tonight and tell him we are still working on a plan. I got word from Moonstone pack and they are willing to hide Kane and his mom while we figure out how to kill our parents." Mitch continues. "I will tell Kane that I will be back in 24 hours from today to let him know if we have more information. However, I will not be back. I will tell the guards that I saw him and where to find him. They will bring him here and then you reject him. You will tell mom and dad to let him live and banish him from the kingdom." Mitch finishes.

"What if they do not let him live? I do not know if I can do this. I just want to be by his side." I say crying my words out.

"Millicent, it is going to be okay. You are strong, you can do this. I know you can. We need you." Maggie tells me.

"Mitch before you go can you tell Kane something for me?" I ask hoping he will say yes.

"Of course Millie anything you need." Mitch says.

" Can you tell him that what is coming do not hold back, be strong. Understand that what I am doing is for the greater good of our species. Tell him that our love is strong and will with stand anything that my parents try to make me do." I tell him trying to hold back tears.

"Of course Millie. I will be back. Millie he has always loved you. Understand that and you will be fine." Mitch says before shifting in to his wolf and hoping out the window.

"Maggie will you stay here tonight?" I ask my sister.

"Of course Millie. I know these next few days are going to be hard. We are all here for you. Remember that." Maggie said as we both fell asleep.
