Chapter 10: Meeting at the Elders Council

I was ready on time, wearing the only dress that I had. I was waiting at the main hallway holding my clutch even more tightly; wondering what else was ahead of me now. That is when I heard the screeching sounds of the tyres and the loud horn.

Alpha Tristan was waiting restlessly in his car, His car, clothes, his pack, Lilly. He has everything, what I don’t understand is why am I here? As I started walking towards the car, the anxiousness on his face told me that this is something important.

 “Are you going to wear this??” he asked with a frown on his face.

I instantly looked down at my clothes, “I see nothing wrong with them.”

Without nagging much on the topic, we started the drive towards the Elders council.

The entire drive he kept on giving me instructions on how to behave, how to smile, how to nod my head, not to get a word out of my mouth.

Annoyed hearing the same thing again and again, Thankfully we reached the destination earlier than I predicted. Before getting out of the car he looked at me threateningly and said “Don’t speak a word, nod your head and smile agreeing to everything I tell.” I just nodded my head in agreement.

“Follow my lead” he said and started walking ahead; I had to run to catch up after him.

“Oh this running has to stop” I said to myself as we entered the council room.

As we entered the council room, all the Twelve Elders were sitting at their places at the council table when I entered the meeting hall.

As I greeted them, I turned back to see Mia standing behind me.

The look on her face suddenly changed, she addresses all the council members with their names and titles; she knew the exact etiquette and curtsy to be followed in the hall. I was pleasantly surprised by her behaviour which turned more into a shock when Elder Rollin got up from his seat to receive Mia.

He passed through me as if I did not even exist there; “What a sweet surprise Princess Mia?”.

I am so glad to meet you after all these years. Elder Ernouf walks towards them and says “You have grown to be a very fine lady Princess Mia” Elder Austin walks towards her holding her hand and kissing her lightly “You look a splitting image of your mother, my dear.”

And to my further shock they even offer her a seat at their table.

Still unable to pull myself from what I am seeing I ask myself “Why are they treating her as if SHE IS MOON GODESS HERSELF ?”

Xavier seems to be so proud that our mate is sitting at the Elders table. “Didn’t you hear them she is a princess”

Still unable to digest the fact, I treat her as a maid in my house how can this be possible?

“But I ran a background check on her, she is just an orphan, living with her uncle and aunt”;

Xavier adds “or maybe there is more to the story, which the private detective couldnt pick up”.

After an unreasonably long period, Elder Ernouf finally addresses me; so you both are here together. That’s when I walk forward and say “Mia is my MATE”

Suddenly all the heads in the room turn towards me; some with loud gasps.

The shock on Mia’s face was the most outstanding, she was about to say something but then looking into my eyes she stopped.

Elder Rollins was the first to speak. “So the Moon Goddess has finally blessed you with a mate Alpha Tristan”

Mia turns towards him, still in disbelief.

Alpha Austin, who is said to have a vision of future “I see a wedding ahead and a war” he instantly turns towards Mia holding her hands again in a firm grip he asks her straight away “Are you happy with this wedding ??”

Mia looks too confused to answer any questions, yet she nods her head as a response.

There was a sudden silence in the room; to avoid any more questions, I add in to say “We are here, to invite all the council members for the ceremony; on the full moon day”

Elder Ernouf spoke “We will be there.”

As I took leave from the council members as Mia and I will be leaving; Elder Rollins walks with Mia and tells her “Never feel that you are alone or weak, you have us; You have us” She thanks him and hugs him.

My wolf was getting restless each time somebody touches her, that was driving me even more crazy.

Before turning back into the hall, he looks at me and says “TAKE CARE OF HER” that sounded more as intimidating advice.

Walking towards the car, I look at Mia in amusement; through out the meeting no one even offered me a seat and she grabbed all the attention. “Who are you?” I finally ask.

“I am Mia Wright” she answers strangely looking back at me.

What was it that happened inside “Why did they call you a princess?”

The completely ignores the question and gets into the car.

“I asked you something” I growled as I got into the car myself.

“Maybe you should ask it to them” she snaps back.

The looks on her face says that I touched a sensitive spot Xavier feels that something is wrong “Maybe now is not the right time.”

I cant believe he is my mate. But its too obvious that he is not happy that I am his mate.

May be he is lying about it; but the Elders would know if he was lying.

If its true, that answers all the questions I have been asking myself lately.

“He has to find a mate and Luna to keep up as alpha of this pack” realisation that hit me suddenly. I look at him in disbelief

Why didn’t he just say so. Why did he make a deal rather?

Closing my eyes, I curse myself; But everyone said finding one’s mate was supposed to be magical and a blessing, but I don’t feel anything. Anything at all.
