Elena After I took a bath and put on my swimwear—a pair of shorts and a bra—I rested on the hammock outside, letting the late afternoon sun kiss my skin in every place possible. I was reading a brochure that had been left on the cupboard for the guests. The beautiful places we could visit in Vaitape Village—the nearby village on the island—were all I cared about. I pushed Rafael and the Don to the farthest part of the back of my mind and let them stay there. I couldn’t keep worrying about what was going on. Until one of them said something, I wouldn’t know.
