Chapter Two Ransom –––––––– THE LOUD POUNDING on my bedroom door almost matched the horrible one wreaking havoc in my head. “Ransom!” hollered my agent, Sonia Jenkins, from the other side of the door. “Get your a*s out of bed and get dressed! Now!” “Hold on,” I muttered, trying to ignore the all-too familiar nausea and heartburn. I sat up and reached for the bottle of ibuprofen and Rolaids on my nightstand. The unexpected rustle of silk sheets startled me. “Hey, Ransom,” smiled a strange brunette, stretching out next to me. Normally I kicked them out before I passed out.
