Nyra’s POV I did not sleep. Not even for a second. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw shadows slipping through cracks in the walls, fingers reaching for Auren and voices whispering threats I could not make out. My body stayed firm, remaining on the edge of the bed with one hand curved tightly around the small knife I kept hidden under my pillow. Auren slept soundly, his breathing was even and untroubled, and I was grateful he did not feel the storm inside me. But my eyes never left the door.
