CHAPTER 8: A NEW DAWN PART 1: AFTER THE PEACE 2 Years After The War Ended. The island was quiet. No more gunshots. No more blood. Just the sound of waves. And us. Luca said we were safe now. But I knew better. In his world, peace never lasted long. PART 2: A NEW MORNING 6 AM. I woke up to sunlight. And to Luca's arm around me. And to Luna kicking me from the inside. "She's awake," I whispered. Luca smiled against my neck. "She knows her Daddy is here." He put his hand on my stomach. "Good morning, Princess," he whispered. "Don't kick Mommy too hard, okay?" I laughed. "You talk to her more than you talk to me." He kissed me. "That's because I love you both." PART 3: THE NEW PROBLEM Breakfast. Everything was normal. Until Viktor came in. His face was serious. "Brother," he said. "We have a problem." Luca's whole body went still. "What kind of problem?" "There's a new pack," Viktor said. "On the north border. They're asking questions. About you. About her. About the baby." Luca looked at me. And I saw it. That old darkness in his eyes. "Don't," I said quietly. "Don't go back to that." He took my hand. "I won't," he said. "But I will protect you. Both of you." PART 4: THE FEAR That night I couldn't sleep. Luca was awake too. Staring at the ceiling. "Are you scared?" I asked. He turned to me. "Of losing you?" he asked. "Every day." I moved closer. "Then don't," I whispered. "Just stay." He pulled me into his arms. "I will," he said. "Forever." PART 5: THE MEETING Next day. Luca had a meeting. With the new Alpha. He didn't want me to come. But I insisted. The new Alpha was young. Maybe 30. And arrogant. "Alpha De Rossi," he said. "I've heard about you. And your human." Luca stood up. "She has a name," he said. "And you will use it." The room went silent. The Alpha laughed. "Or what?" Luca smiled. But it wasn't a nice smile. "Or you will learn why they call me the Alpha King." I put my hand on his arm. "Luca," I whispered. "Please." He looked at me. And the darkness faded. "Fine," he said to the Alpha. "We don't want war. But if you come for her. You will have one." PART 6: KASHISH AT NIGHT Back home. Kids asleep. Luca was tense. Pacing. "Come here," I said. He stopped. And looked at me. I opened my arms. And he came. He buried his face in my neck. "I hate this," he whispered. "I hate that they can threaten you." I ran my fingers through his hair. "Then don't let them," I said. "But don't become who you were before. For me." He pulled back. Looked at me. "For you," he said. "I would do anything." And he kissed me. Deep. Desperate. Like he needed to remember I was real. PART 7: LUNA'S FIRST WORD Week 30. We were in the nursery. Painting the walls. And then it happened. A tiny flutter. Then another. "Luca," I gasped. "She kicked!" He dropped the paintbrush. And ran to me. "Really?" he said. Putting his hand on my stomach. And she did it again. Right on his hand. Luca's face. Oh my God. His face lit up like Christmas. "That was me?" he whispered. "She kicked for me?" He started laughing. And crying. "I love you," he said to my stomach. "Daddy loves you so much." PART 8: THE THREAT RETURNS Week 32. Letter came. Again. Black envelope. Luca opened it. And his jaw clenched. "What does it say?" I asked. He crumpled it. "Nothing," he said. "That matters." But I saw his hands shaking. That night he didn't sleep. He sat by the window. With a gun. "Luca," I said. "Come to bed." He looked at me. "I can't," he said. "Not until I know you're safe." I went to him. Sat on his lap. "I am safe," I whispered. "Because you're here." PART 9: THE DECISION Morning. Luca called a meeting. With all the Alphas. He was going to end this. One way or another. "I don't want you to go," I said. He knelt in front of me. "And I don't want to leave you," he said. "But I have to. To make sure no one ever hurts you again." He kissed my stomach. "For her," he said. "For us." I nodded. Tears in my eyes. "Come back to me," I said. "Promise?" He kissed me. "I promise," he said. "On my life." PART 10: THE WAIT 3 Days. He was gone. 3 Days of hell. No news. No calls. I was going crazy. And then. On the 4th day. The door opened. And there he was. Tired. Scratched. But alive. "Aria," he said. And I ran to him. And cried. "I was so scared," I said. He held me tight. "I'm here," he said. "It's over. I ended it. No more threats. No more wars." PART 11: COMING HOME That night. For the first time in weeks. Luca slept. Really slept. With me in his arms. And his hand on my stomach. And I watched him. The most dangerous man alive. Looking so peaceful. "Thank you," I whispered. "For coming back." He mumbled in his sleep. "Always," he said. "Always coming back to you." PART 12: A NEW DAWN Week 35. The sun was rising. And so was a new day for us. No more threats. No more fear. Just us. And our baby coming soon. Luca made breakfast. I sat and watched him. "You know what?" I said. "What?" he asked. "I think," I said. "This is the start of something good." He came to me. Kissed me. "Me too," he said. "Our new dawn." To Be Continued...
