Anna
“My family and my people were murdered,” those words still haunt me well into the night. After all the guests had left, after William, though reluctantly, had left. But not before he promised he would call on me the next day. When everyone had gone to bed, those words still rang in my head. “But one day I will get the murderers that hurt them.” I had said those same words when I saw my mother get murdered. When I received news a few days after that my father had been mauled by an animal. I knew that it had not been an ordinary animal that had killed him. I cried silent tears for William, for his lose. I cried for me, and my lose. William and I are the same. We are two broken people, in a world that doesn’t believe in monsters. Maybe, he out of anyone else, understands pain.
Suffering.
Revenge.
William
I shouldn’t have told her! I hurl a glass into the fireplace. My chambers are destroyed from my rage that has been going well into the early morning. I had not gone to sleep ever sense I came home from the party.
You ruined our chances, Roi said sadly. He had screamed and screamed till he became tired. But that still didn’t shut him up. How can she ever fall for us now after what you told her? What sane woman wants to be with a man that is so broken?
“Enough!” I yell out loud. Roi finally goes silent. I grab another glass and fill it to the brim with whiskey. I gulp it down. With only a light buzz, before my accelerated metabolism kicked in, I made my way to my bed. With a heavy heart I flop onto it. “I didn’t mean to. It just happened. I wanted to tell her everything about me. To understand me. How else do you expect her to trust me enough to leave everything she loves behind?”
After I had proclaimed my families demise Anna had been like a zombie. She had retreated into her own mind and even with much coaxing, she only replied with one-word answers. With little response, I decided to leave her to be able to think over what I had told her.
I hope this hasn’t ruined any chance I had with Anna. I couldn’t lose her. I just found her.
I won’t lose someone I love again.

I woke up in a panic. My nightmares still clouding my vision. I must have fallen asleep last night. I sit up and look at the mess around me. Usually my bed chambers was orderly but after last night everything was in disarray. Curtains ripped off the rod, chairs and end table over turned, mirror shattered. I begin to arrange everything in some semblance of order. Anything to keep my mind off of the possibility I lost my only chance of having a mate. A family.
After organizing everything I begin to dress, I walk over to the wash basin and look at my reflection through the cracked mirror. My eyes are blood shot from the late night. I splash some water on my face in order to get rid of the horrors hidden behind my eyes. There’s a knock at the door, then Abigail walks in a second later.
“Good morning, darling!” She exclaims, throwing her arms up in a flourish. She made her way to the bed. “I just knew would be lazing around as always. What happened to your chambers?” She asked as she looked round.
“Nothing,” I growl. Big mistake. She looked at me sharply. One thing about Abigail is that she never misses anything, no matter how small a detail.
“So how did the party go last night? Find anything exciting?” She grinned knowingly. “You found her, didn’t you?” I guess the expression on my face must have said it all because she began to jump up and down like a school girl. Something, Abigail is most definitely not. “About damn time, you bastard. It took you long enough to find her. So, who is she? What is she like?”
I feel overwhelmed by all her questions and excitement. “Her name is Anna Moreau, and she is beautiful. Except, I ruined it.” I say disheartened.
“What did you do?” Abigail asked. Even without knowing what I had done, she was being kind. She always cared for me even when I couldn’t care for myself.
“I told her about my family.” I didn’t have to tell her anything else, she already knew. She had been there from the beginning.
“How is that a bad thing? You would have had to eventually, darling.” She consoled. “If she is truly your mate, she will love you no matter what.” Abigail always with her authoritative air, had the compassion of a mother. She was a mother, once upon a time, till the Hunters got a hold of her little boy, and her mate. She doesn’t talk about it ever, and only on a very drunken night had she divulged that she even had a family at one point. “What you need to do is get your ass out of this house and go see her… But only till you have broken your fast.”
She got up and went to ring the bell. A minute later, Mrs. Beth appeared at my door.
“You rang, sir?” She asked. Her voice trails off as she peaks into the room and sees the mess.
“Could you please have Cook send up something to break Sir Williams fast, if you would. And I would like some tea, as well. Thank you my dear.” Abigail requests, before she can inquire as to what happened in my chambers. Always the authoritative, mocks Roi in my head. I roll my eyes in agreement.
Without missing a step, Mrs. Beth nods her head in understanding and curtseys as she exits my chambers.
Abigail turns back to me. “When will you be seeing her again?”
“I asked her if I could see her last night, but after what happened last night, I doubt she will ever want to see me again,” I say with little enthusiasm.
“Oh, get out of your head, and stop being a baby!” Abigail stated. “You need to stop putting yourself down or else you will lose the only hope of having a family again that has happened in years. So, get yourself together and go get your mate. And you take care of her and love her with all your heart.” She finished sadly. Her eyes get a glazed look as she begins to think back to the horrors of her past. Her face furrowing and contorting into a face of pain. I know all too well that look because I’m sure that is exactly how I look when I remember my nightmares.
We sit in silence till Mrs. Beth returns with a breakfast tray, lost in our own worlds.
