Zion was pissed that Catori had left him with a permanent hard-on. Worse was Leilani and Fay suffered too because they could feel his need and see it as well. Zion was getting numerous offers from the new female she-wolves. They could sense things were not right between him and Leilani. Zion just kept pushing onward. He constantly thought about Catori but he tried not to pressure her and instead prayed to the goddess that she would bring them back together again. He had just about got the pack back in order. All the buildings used pieces from the buildings that stood once before, but they were bigger and more efficient. He could only hope he made his father proud. He noticed Leilani appeared to be getting a little thicker in all the right places, "Getting thicker Lei Lei," Zion teased her. She still did not appeal to him but he meant what he said. Leilani looked at Zion licking her lips seductively, "Behave, woman,"

"Why are you gonna spank me? DON'T threaten me with a good time." Leilani smiled at him,

Zion's smile faded; he simply could not entertain the thought. Something about knowing all the time before when he touched her he had caused Catori excruciating pain had changed him. Just the pain he endured had damn near broken him and to think it was only one night of suffering. He had made the woman he vowed to protect and love with his life suffer for two years. This is why he accepted her rejection. In truth, he felt she was right. That he was not deserving of her. So he tried doing something that he himself thought was impossible. He let her go, loving her more than himself. The problem was, not only did he think he was undeserving of her, he didn't think anyone else was either.

"Alpha," Chandler said, walking into his office. Zion nodded for him to take a seat. Zion did not originally take Chandler very seriously when they first met. He seemed like a goofball, certainly not capable enough to be in the position he was; however, Cameron had rooted for his brother. Saying Zion pay attention, he will surprise you. And he had him, Tyke, and Morris, the two misfits he called best friends. Chandler's demeanor is what made people dismiss him as a threat and his looks enabled him to entail that others did not have access to.

"Good afternoon alpha, the file you requested." Chandler sat and Zion had to admit he was impressed with the way he turned on and off,

"May I have a quick briefing?" Zion asked,

"Yes Sir, Amaralus Gray is a self-made alpha, his father was abusive and beat the hell out of the kid until he was 15 and he abandoned his pack, choosing to go rogue. After having a run-in with the council warriors after intervening in a domestic dispute, he caught the eye of the council. Seeking refuge, the council took him in and he got his wolf worked his way up the ranks and, eventually joined the Elite team, and worked for them for a few years. After he was assigned to take out, alpha Gaylord Peris of the Moon Rise pack, one of the most documented ruthless alpha's in this region."

"Amaralus Grey took out Gaylord Peris," Zion was impressed. Alpha Peris was no joke. Zion recalled his father had passed on tangling with alpha Peris because the council had first approached him. Zion had asked his father, "Are you afraid Father," and his father responded "Real recognizes real, some battles are not worth the cost of the lives it would take to win. I love my boys so much. Sometimes it's not about winning. Besides, the council does not do favors. They asked me as if they were offering me a gift. Yes, I would earn respect and land, but that battle would be a bloodbath. My people know that I lead them into war. When the battle comes to us, I do not start fights for no reason. Our men have families they love as well as I do. They protect me and I them. I have a mutual respect for Alpha Peris as long as he does not bring it to Mystic. There is no war but if he were to ever cross that line, he would quickly learn that the Mystic Moon is not one to be toyed with. We don't start wars, but we damn sure have no quarries when it comes to finishing them." Zion missed his father. He was a great teacher and leader.

"He did Alpha and this awarded him an honorable release from the Elite team. He then went back to his old pack, killed his father, merged Peris's pack and his, and renamed them the Eclipse Moon pack. He makes his money through property investments. He owns six commercial buildings and rents out office space. Seems legit, for the most part, couldn't find anything shady." Chandler said,

"Thank you, Chandler," Zion skimmed through the file, then placed it in a locked drawer. Just in time, as Catori appeared out of nowhere.

"Jeesh you scared the crap out of me!" Chandler said as Zion sat lazily back in his chair admiring her. She was thinner than she had ever been. He didn't like that, she was not eating. Why had Amaralus not forced her to slow down? "You look thinner. Why are you losing weight?"

"Because I'm in f*****g pain,

Zion, eating is the last thing on my mind," she said a little harsher than intended.

"Sorry, I'm a little on edge. I came to tell you Amaralus and I are taking the boys to Disney. I think it's time they met."

Zion's eyes narrowed, "Is that so?"

"Yes, and please do not give me a hard time. I try not to pick at you about the wooly wombat you mated too," Catori said flatly.

Chandler was struggling not to laugh and although Zion never moved his eyes off Catori, he spoke, "Chandler, you are dismissed."

"Thank you Alpha," Chandler practically ran from the office, "Was that really necessary?" Zion's low seductive voice was enough to make Catori's lady parts clench.

"What you did to me was not very nice, Catori."

"Yes, well my apologies I'm sure your mate will pick up where I left off." She said snidely,

"Kitten, why do you want to introduce the boys to your friend," Zion asked,

"Because Amaralus has asked me to be his mate. For my birthday he is throwing me a party and I have decided to accept his proposal that night. I need to know how he gets along with my boys."

Zion pushed back the chair and, walking around his desk, he came to stand in front of her. Catori reached for the necklace but the transparent crystal did not have the same effect as her other necklace. She felt broken, hurt, and aching so raw and deep. Tears rolled from her eyes, she looked at Zion confused and then he said, "You hate me because I can not be the man you want me to be. I failed you and you can't see past the disappointment. Of all the mistakes I have made, this is the one you can't forgive." He looked at her with eyes of steel. Zion felt so many emotions rushing over him all at once.

"You have not touched her since I touched you because you can't get past the pain you cause me and you," Catori tried to step back but found herself pressed against the desk. She reached for her necklace but instead of relieving her discomfort, she was flooded with downloads of Zion's suffering before she returned. Zion stepped away from her because he saw Catori's suffering. He fell over as the pain hit him, "ZION!"

Catori grabbed his head before it slammed against the hard wooden floor, "Zion!" She screamed, his office door pushed open and Catori felt people surround them, but she never took her eyes off Zion, who had begun to seize, "Damn it, Zion!"

She heard the little feet come running in and knew her boys had entered. "Daddy!" Elijah looked between the two of his parents, seeing his mother crying and his dad suffering. It seemed that he knew something was not right. He spotted the necklace and before he could react, Earth snatched the chain from his mother's neck. Zion let out a gasping sound and then he started breathing normally, "What did you do to my mate," Leilani demanded.

Zion looked up into Catori's panicked face. He reached out to wipe her tears, and she held his head. Running fingers through his thick curls, "You scared me,"

"You okay dad," Earth asked. Zion could not quit looking at Catori. He had been so wrong. He understood why she was so angry, "Give me your pain," he moaned.

"Zion, you almost died, it's too much for you, especially without the mark," Catori said to him, looking over. She saw his mate shooting daggers at her. This pissed her off because she looked at her the same when she was with Talmage. 'Turn your eyes away from me b***h before I bust your heart wide open, get out!'

'No! He is my mate!' Leilani walked over, dropping down next to Zion. She reached for his hand, 'You disrespect me every chance you get. He is mine,'

Catori was fed up with this woman. Zion blinked and Catori was gone and so was Leilani. "Shift!" Catori ordered.

'Let me have her!' Azira was going crazy. She had been dying for a piece of Leilani and her wolf.

A crowd quickly gathered, and River pushed to the front with the Mystic moon warriors, "Catori no!" She heard River yelling, she knew by law they had to defend their Luna. She heard the warning growls. So she threw up a soundproof dome so they or Zion could intervene.

"You f*****g w***e how dare have the audacity to speak to me about respect? Who the hell do you think you are to judge me?" Catori growled.

"His mate! I am the one that picked up the pieces when you left him broke to go do what?" Leilani yelled,

"Um, let's see, save, protect, restore the world no biggy, can you do it? Were you chosen?" Catori asked.

"I love him!" Leilani beat her chest with passion which only insulted Catori more. Catori ran to her grabbing her by the neck, "Shift" she hissed again.

"You don't scare me, Chosen, you can beat me down but I will still be his mate!" Leilani hissed

Catori could hold Azira back no longer. Catori's eyes changed colors and, with her hands around Leilani's neck, Azira replied in a raspy tone, 'Not if you are dead,' she glared at Leilani, demanding 'shift'

At that point, the game began. Azira pounced on Faye, shaking her like a rag doll. She beat the Luna mercilessly and then dragged her body around the dome in her mouth. At one point, the Luna appeared to be dead, but then her foot or arm would twitch and Azira would bite at her again, never releasing her from her massive jaws. She would drag her body around the dome as she slowly bled to death. 'Azira' Catori said to her wolf, 'one more shaking and she will surely die. I don't want him this way, do you?' her wolf whimpered,

'I want her to suffer like me,' Azira howled,

'He will suffer too. You have had your fun.' Regrettably, Catori said 'Release her,'

'Leilani, we are not the same. Do not question my love for Zion again; he is the only reason you will not die today.

But I have warned you about your arrogance. The next time I will let my wolf finish you. Do not address me, do not look at me, do not even say my name outside my presence. My patience level for you is non-existent. Are we clear?' Catori asked.

'Yes!' Leilani heaved,

Azira made circles around Leilani as if she were daring her to move, then she released the dome. Several warriors went to rush Azira but she let out a warning and they all fell back. Azira, being very disrespectful, kicked dirt over their Luna's still body with her hind paw, challenging them to come near.

"Don't approach her!," River yelled, "Unless you have a death wish."

Zion carefully approached Azira, knowing she was on edge. He reached her and she backed up, trampling Leilani's body. 'Azira, it's okay baby I'm sorry I hurt you.' he slowly ran his fingers through her coat. Rubbing her gently, it was only then that he was able to calm her and coax her away from Leilani's body,

Dr. Arden ran to Leilani, checking her pulse, along with Amber and Quamir.

'Is she dead,' Zion asked. He saw Azira's eyes turn back to Silver, knowing Catori had managed to get control of her wolf.

'Catori is she dead?' Zion asked.

'No, sorry I let my anger get the better of me.' She whispered with shame,

'You spent three hours torturing my mate. I'd say that's an understatement.' Zion frowned,

'Well, pain is part of the price of loving Zion Black. I wasn't spared. Why should she be?' Catori said, 'I will not be coming back here. I will set up meeting places to get the boys. I can manage this…pain but Azira, it's killing her.' She backed away from him,

"Catori!" Zion yelled, but she was gone. He watched Quamir carrying Leilani toward the hospital.

"Alpha, are you okay?" Cameron asked as Janette took Zion's hand. They had all surrounded him waiting as he had for the outcome when Catori had lost it. "Yes, I'm fine, Cameron, Chandler, Zara, and Bell, into my office."

They all piled up in his office waiting for instructions. Zion sat behind his desk. He didn't want to play dirty, but the time had come to switch hats, as his father would say. "I have the first job for the Elite close the door."

Once the door was closed, Zion said, "This is the mark, Alpha Amaralus Grey. Zara, your first mission." He pointed to a picture of a set of office buildings, "I want you to blow up both of these buildings. No one is going to get hurt, understand?"

"Yes Sir," Bell said,

"Good," Zion said, leaning back.

"But alpha, why are we not just taking them all at once?" Cameron asked,

"Because I want to toy with him, I want him to lose everything slowly. Now I don't have to tell you to be discreet, do I?"

"No sir, my team has already been informed every mission is strictly confidential," Zara said,

"Very well, you and Bell are dismissed."

Once they left the room, Zion looked at Chandler, "I want his accounts frozen, no money is to come into that pack, understood."

"Done," Chandler said, dismissing himself.

Alone, Cameron looked at Zion, "So are we sending a message?"

"Damn right! If I can't have her, nobody else can either." Zion ran his fingers through his hair, "It hurts to love Catori Knight. Why should I suffer alone?"

"Understood," Cameron said, "and what about your mate?"

"I was saving that special project for you," Zion explained,

"The mate bond is impossible to resist. The Alpha conference will be coming up soon and, according to my calendar, it will be close to the time Leilani's heat kicks in. I need them to accidentally get stuck in a room together."

"Alpha, you know what will happen?" Cameron said, Zion smiled wickedly as Cameron said, "They will not be able to resist each other."

"Exactly."

The one thing Zara quickly discovered she liked about being an officer of the Elite was she was able to leave the pack when she wanted to. She sent a text to Tabatha letting her know she was going to hook up with David.

Her phone immediately started buzzing. She looked at her message.

Tab: Omg I'm nervous for you, are you sure about this?

Me: Hell yeah I have got to leave Quamir alone.

Tab: I thought you already did that

Me: I have tried. I swear the man will not leave me alone and the s*x is so good! I know I'm horrible.

Tab: I hate to ask, but how is Amber?

Me: Suffering and I'm pretty sure she knows it's me

Tab: No she doesn't. If she did, for sure Zion would know and your ass would be out!

Me: right, which is why I'm trying to get away from him! How are you and Richard?

Tab: As toxic as you and Quamir right now.

Me: I refuse to believe that. I'll hit you up as soon as I get back, okay.

Tab: Love ya

Zara knew under no circumstances would she fail to deliver. Zion was counting on her. Quamir was pissed because he knew what getting this position meant to her and that the thing they shared would soon end. Which was the main reason she was going on this date. David was so hot to Zara, so this was something or someone she felt would be a great distraction. They first met at a Chinese restaurant and David looked super hot in a white tee shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Zara had gotten there first, "hey you," she said as David came in.

David was all over Zara the moment he entered. They had a great conversation and David had Zara constantly blushing, "So what do you do, Zara?"

"I'm an officer for an Elite team in my pack." Zara said,

"Wow," David stared at her a moment, "so you're like a…"

"Werewolf," Zara said,

"Old s**t so have you ever dated outside your species?" David asked,

"No," Zara admitted.

"Me either, but I'm so down, your eyes are extraordinary, Zara." He said, smiling at her,

"Thanks, what do you do?" Zara asked.

"This is going to sound lame but I'm a school teacher," David laughed.

"Oh and how do you punish students when they are naughty?" Zara asked,

"I don't know I make them stand in the corner," he laughed,

"I was hoping for a spanking," Zara gave him a seductive smile. Ten minutes later, they headed back to his place. David was so excited he could barely get his key in the door. Zara was surprised at how neat his apartment was. The guy was more organized than her.

"Where is your bathroom?" Zara asked, but David was all over her, way too anxious to let her go, he lifted her up carrying her to the couch, "Oh okay,". Zara said, "Right to it hmm," she said, as he buried his face between her legs. Zara wasn't sure what he was doing down there but she wasn't feeling any fireworks. She pretended she was all in it just so she wouldn't hurt his feelings. When he moved up she threw her hand out, "I kind of have to pee."

"Oh yeah totally," David said. Zara reached between his legs. Oh thank Goddess he had a package she could work with. She was worried about him being human and that he'd fall short in that category. Zara went into the bathroom and immediately texted Tabatha.

Me: Girl, he ate me out and it was awful!

Tabatha: Stop it!???

Zara heard a thump and called out, "David, you okay!"

"I'm fine baby cakes," David answered,

"Okay baby cakes," Zara giggled, he is so weird, she thought as she flushed the toilet and washed her hands. Zara did a makeup check, then just being nosy looked through his medicine cabinet and drawers, finding nothing interesting, she made her way out of the bathroom and back into the living room. He wasn't there but there was a handwritten note on the couch,

"Good morning to you too," Zara said as she let him lead her once again to paradise. Once she came she felt the cuffs removed.

"Thank you, my arms were starting to get sore." She rubbed her wrists, pulling the blindfold off

The room was still kind of dark. She got up and felt around for a light. When it flickered on she looked down because she felt like she was standing on something wet. Zara froze as she saw the trailing blood. Following it with her eyes, she screamed when she saw David with his hands behind his back. Blood everywhere his tongue had been ripped out

He sat on a chair facing the bed. Oh, my Goddess, it was not him she had s*x with last night. He had been strategically positioned in front of the bed as he bled to death. He had watched her getting her brains f****d out by someone else. Zara was shaking as she grabbed the sheet and wiped the blood off her feet. She ran into the living room, grabbed her clothes, she put them on in a hurry. She did not want to be caught in the human world with a dead body. Zara heard a knock. "f**k!" She ran back into the bedroom she lifted the window. She would have to jump and she did it with her heels in her mouth and her purse around her neck. She darn near broke her foot when she landed. Limping, she took off running. Did David tell anyone they were meeting? Of course, he had. Zara was so upset by the time she got back to the packhouse. She jumped right in the shower. She immediately called Tabatha and cried her heart out as she told her what happen.

"Oh, my Goddess, that is f*****g crazy!" Tabatha said,

"Tabatha, it was horrible, seeing him like that," Zara cried.

"s**t do you wanna come over?"

"No, I want to cry and then pretend this never happened," Zara said,

"Zara, I'm so sorry you should call River. You shouldn't be alone."

"Maybe," Zara did not. She instead took some sleeping pills and went back to sleep. When she did wake up, she made her way down to the kitchen. Sitting beside River, she looked around, "Where is Shannara?"

"Acting like she does not know because Janora is around," River said dryly,

"That/s screwed up,"

"No, what will be screwed up is if I reject her our month is pretty much up," River said,

"Would you really?"

"Would you wanna be someone's dirty little secret?" River asked,

Zara looked away. No, she didn't want to be, but s**t happens.

She saw Amber and Quamir walk in as if on cue, 'Don't be jello, Zara you know it's all about you.'

'I seriously don't care Quamir.' Zara snapped,

'You have been acting really high and mighty since you got your new position.' Quamir said snidely,

'I have to focus Quamir, I explained that to you,' she said, rolling her eyes.

Quamir looked over at her. He had a good mind to go snatch her up but he knew Amber would get upset and he didn't want to hurt her. After catching hell from Leilani, he knew it was best he chill out. His sister was super pissed at how he had been treating his mate, 'Meet me tonight,'

'No, I'm busy'

'Really?' he snapped,

'Yes! I'm working with the team.'

'like you were last night?' Quamir asked,

'Yes!'

'Your such a f*****g liar Zara your team was here last night. Obviously, you're playing games or you've made up your mind. I can take a hint: you don't want to be my mate. Amber and I will be leaving next week. Have a nice life Zara, and good luck finding another alpha willing to make you his Luna.' Quamir spat out, 'I'm so over you.'

Zara felt some kind of way as he ended the link and when she tried responding to him he had his block up. Why did she feel like crap, was it ego because he had ended things instead of her. She didn't think about it any further, things between them needed to end.

The transparent crystal was not for her. She felt Zion's pain and he felt hers. She had damn near killed Zion's mate. b***h, Catori thought she completely got where Azira was coming from. She walked around like she was big s**t and untouchable. Catori was over her attitude and she was over being anywhere near Zion. She and Amaralus took Earth, Elijah, and Maden to Disney. The boys had a blast and Amaralus had as much fun as them. It felt weird making memories without Zion. Azira had completely withdrawn; she didn't even talk to her anymore, which made her lonely even though she was never really alone. Some days she spent hours begging Azira to talk to her but she had completely checked out. Everything went great. Catori listened to Maddy tell her how he couldn't wait to tell his mom about his trip. "Catori,"

"Yes, Maddy,"

"One day can Mama take me to Disney?" Maddy asked,

Maddy was so smart. Catori saw Zion in him so much. He had such fun he wanted to share the moment with his mom. "Maddy, I think that would be a great idea."

"Yay!" The boy was so excited that it warmed Catori's heart. She never thought she would be able to love this child that Zion had created, but somehow she did. Maybe it was because she could clearly see that Elijah and Earth loved him so much too. They included Maden in everything. "You guys can come when I go with my mom," Maddy said to his brothers. The boys seemed pleased about a second trip, so she knew they all enjoyed their time with her. Once they made it back to the Eclipse pack, she took the boys to the cafeteria. Their cook, Kay, was awesome and the boys ate burgers and hot dogs while Catori ate a salad and Spaghetti. She noticed everyone seemed on edge, "Boys stay here, I will be right back." Catori made her way to Amaralus's office to find out what was going on.

"Amaralus, what's happening?" Catori asked,

"My pack has been targeted, someone blew up two of my office buildings overnight."

"Who would do that?" Catori asked,

"I don't know. Most alphas will not try me since I took out Alpha Peris, but there are those that wish to make a name for themselves and, frankly, since I have started seeing you I have had a few packs make moves "

"Me"

"Yes, you beautiful, powerful, and unmated if they can show you they can take me out maybe in their mind you would consider joining their pack."

"And how many attacks have there been since I have been here?"

"Four, but this is bigger than any before. This alpha really wants my attention." He paused to give orders to his men to beef up security.

"I had no idea, I'm so sorry," Catori placed a hand on his, "What can I do?"

"Nothing,"

"What?"

"I need every Alpha to know that with or without you I will not be played with. I will find out who did this and when I do I'm coming for them and I don't need you, to show that I am not about the bullshit." Amaralus said, his eyes narrowed as he looked at her.

"Okay, well, if you do need me, I am here."

"I know, sexy, I want you to go shopping and pick your dress out for your birthday. Take my truck and have fun." He slid her his card and keys.

She did something she had not done in a while but she leaned in and kissed him, making it extra wet and nasty, "Little extra power for anyone coming for mine." She turned and he slapped her rump, "hey," she giggled as he bit his lips giving her a look filled with lust.

Catori called and requested Cameron to meet her outside of Mystic Borders to get the boys. She had only looked down a second to change the song on the station to Jasmine Sullivan-pick up your feelings when she looked back up to see Zion.
