Chapter 3It turned out dinner was not the first item on the menu. Chad was initially expected for cocktails, or so the ever-loyal Pearson informed him when he returned to the main house. He knew what that meant—dress for the occasion. As he slipped a blue-striped tie around his neck, he thought it ironic that his style of clothes was more formal at home than at the office. He knew his grandmother liked to stand on ceremony and for a moment, as he stared at himself in the mirror on his bedroom wall, he wondered how often Silas had been present for this family ritual.
