Chapter 5The storm that had rolled over Eden the last couple of days finally let up, leaving in its wake a fresh blanket of heat. The humidity held thick in the still air, even as the sun fell into the west and left behind a steamy, summer Saturday night. For tonight’s get-together, Chad had been told to dress casually and given the extreme heat, he went with a tight blue T-shirt and a pair of gray shorts, leaving his tanned arms and legs exposed. He tried to fluff his hair but the humidity was proving to be its enemy, so he finally gave up. It was nine thirty when he left Edenwood in his Mustang, turning up the cool air in an effort to dry his hair at the nape of his neck.
