Chapter 13Chad paced the hall of the Eden Medical Center. Since he was not immediate family, he was not allowed into Gigi’s room. All he’d been told by a kind nurse was that she was stable, but had yet to regain consciousness. Only Rosie was sitting by her side. Aldous had returned to Rolling Hills Ranch to deal with the remainder of his guests, but Chad had seen the pain in his eyes when he’d departed. Maybe he wasn’t so heartless after all. Maybe seeing his little girl lying in a hospital bed was too much for him to bear. As for her brother Gus, he was nowhere to be seen. Also, Chad had suggested to Kelt that he go back to the motel, there wasn’t anything he could do now.
“I’ll meet you back there later,” Chad had said.
It was after eight o’clock, and night was steadily falling on Eden
