Granny pulled me into a fierce hug when I stepped through the door. Her bony hands went over my hair. “Let me make you somethin’. Come sit down, Malcolm.” Malcolm shook his head. “Not this time, Granny.” “Well, at least take some coffee.” The smell of coffee enveloped the whole kitchen. He glanced at me. “How did you sleep?” “Pretty good.” Granny gave him a cup. Malcolm said, “Are you sure you don’t want coffee this morning? You look like you could use it.” I shook my head. “Still will get me too jittery.” “It’s because of your heightened metabolism.
