My cheeks rang as I looked stupefied, trying to figure out what was happening.

Clenching my fist I tried to reign in my anger.

My cheeks hurt,my pride hurt more.

"Do you not know what time it is..." She asked glaring so hard.

If she was trying to intimidate me she didn't have to try hard at all,I am already a scaredy little cat in a wolf's clothing.

She had an imposing figure at 5'7,broad at the shoulder and as ugly as her behavior

"Tt....tii...me...?" I asked, still trying to get my bearing,that slap caught me unprepared, not gonna lie.

"You should be at the pack house helping out, which is your duty,fool."

Ooh!I forgot to add, Apart from being the parent killer I'm also the slave girl.

And everyday I go to the pack house to get stuff done.

I was so carried away in my reverie I forgot I had to go do my daily menial work.

"I....I....I'm sorry ma." I stuttered, lowering my head in submission,like I always did,like I was taught through many beatings and abuses to do.

"Keep that filthy sorry to yourself and come to the pack house right now!"

"But I'm not..." Seeing the look on her face,my protest came to a stop.

"Okay ma'am."

I locked the door immediately, following her obediently as she stormed to our destination.

She exchanged greetings with different people on the way as we went,none was directed at me and I didn't try to initiate any form of greeting either knowing the result.

Getting to the pack house she shoved me into the kitchen and locked the door.

This was the norm,if I don't finish washing every dirty dish littered around, scrubbing and cleaning every surface till madam Carra could see her buck teeth on every tile on the floor and wall,and preparing breakfast for the sixteen wolves therabout, currently taking residence in the pack house,that door would remain locked.

Sighing resignedly,with my still throbbing cheeks,I began my usual routine.

The saddening part was the knowledge that this was just the beginning.

And there was no one to come to my rescue.

My eyes began to bleed tears as I sorted out the dishes.

"And where's that stupid girl." I stood up quickly from the stool I was resting on.

It was evening,the preparations for the gathering of both food and decorations were almost finished and I was the major contributor in all of these,though it was through duress.

I was aching all over and decided to take a rest in the corner of the Kitchen when I heard my attention being called.

She gazed at me,her eyes full of scorn and malice.

"I see have been so lenient with you, you've become slothful." She was all dolled up,her dress heavy with glitters, it was almost blinding,and the sun wasn't even up, seeing it was around 7pm.

"I'm sorry madam Carra." She scoffed at my apologies.

"I'm through with my chores for today,can I go home now?"

"You also want to attend the gathering don't you?"

I gave a nod. She bursted into laughter for so long I was tempted to go get help.

She dabbed tears of mirth from her eyes,still laughing at intervals.

She walked gently towards me and palmed the side of my face, making me flinch involuntarily.

It was the side she hit in the morning.

Staring me in the eye. "Why bother dear....." She started in a low motherly voice.

".... you've not found a mate since you've been attending the mating gathering for the past five years and you wouldn't get one now either."

Tears of indignation filled my eyes unwillingly at her words and I tried to look away from her.

Seeing the tears in my eyes made her happier and she walked out of the kitchen laughing.

"Do not forget to clean the Alpha's room before leaving." She gave one last instruction as she trotted away.

"Witch!" I spat after her.

"Not like she has found a mate either." I mutter to myself as I walk towards Alpha Mathias room to clear it up like she said.

Now this is a chore that I wasn't expecting at all.

Seeing we weren't lacking in female wolves eager to please the Alpha with their wifely acts,his room was always tidied up although under the supervision of Madam Carra.

Getting to his room,I realized I hadn't collected the key.

"Oh no!" I was almost in tears.

I couldn't go around looking for the witch,I don't think I had that much energy in me again.

I place my hand on the knob trying to see if I would be lucky this once "Please moon goddess let it be ...."

I sighed happily as I heard a soft click from the lock,just as I ended my sentence. "....opened."

Smiling triumphantly,I entered the room.

Without wasting much time,seeing I still had to go home to change my clothes.

I started cleaning. Thankfully his room wasn't as messed up as the others.

I suddenly heard movement in the bathroom.

I stopped what I was doing and paused,I heard it again. I wasn't imagining things.

Tip-toeing quietly to see the cause of the noise,I stood in front of the door ready to open it.

The door itself suddenly opened of its own accord,my eyes widened in great surprise because standing before was Alpha Mathias n***d in all of his masculine glory.

And he was so not happy he had an intruder.

"What the hell are you doing in my room?"

My mouth suddenly went dry,I had to swallow multiple times to bring back moisture into it.

My brain and my eyes were at war,my brain was thinking of a way to get out of this mess unscathed while my eyes kept ogling.

Let's not even talk about my wolf who kept purring incessantly.

Yeah,I was going crazy, that's it, because how else can I explain all these.

A knock sounded at that moment and someone popped their head in.

It was Marcus,our Beta and currently he was looking between Mathias and I in confusion.

I didn't stop running till I got home,opened the door and locked it behind me,panting as I rested against it.

What just happened?

I asked in disbelief.

"How am I going to survive this?"

Crying in disbelief I dropped down on the couch and folded my head between both of my hands.

If anyone had told me before today that I would see Alpha Mathias n***d and in his room at that I would have vehemently argued it out.

But here I am hiding away like a coward not wanting to run into my Alpha or his Beta.

The clock chimed,I looked up to see it was nine o'clock already!

I never missed it once and I'm not going to miss it today either,psyching myself up,I went to my room to get ready.

"We have a party to attend."

'Yes we do.' my wolf affirmed happily.

I got dressed, applied a little make-up to accentuate my brown eyes and let my curly red hair down.

I looked pretty,admiring myself in the mirror,I dabbed on a little powder on my face,adjusted the strap of my purple dress,psyched myself up for the party and left.

The party was in high drive and in different stages of decadency, horny wolves here and there mingling together, guzzling down drinks in careless abandon.

We can't get drunk, since our metabolism is too high for that.

Some were kissing,while dancing, hands wandering all over their partners body seductively.

While others were already half n***d and fast on their way to making new pups.

I sat at a corner sipping my wine,I had no friends to chat with nor anyone to romance.

I smiled sadly at the thought.

The master of ceremonies, who is our Beta,Marcus climbed the makeshift podium and announced that Alpha Mathias will be choosing a mate today in this gathering.

This was totally unexpected,it increased the excitement in the air.

He said, "...to choose a Luna, there's going to be a competition."

We all focused our undivided attention on him.

Waiting for him to tell us what the competition entails.

"The first female to have a full shift would be Alpha Mathias mate." He completed.

The females were pumped up in glee,thrilled about the idea of being the next Luna and who wouldn't want to have Mathias as a mate?

I had other things on my mind though, there was no sign of a full moon, so how would this be possible?

'Like this.' my wolf whispered excitedly in my head, and before I could realize what was happening I was on my knees.

An excruciating pain unexpectedly overcame my body, as I felt bones begin to shift and realign and my face formed into a snout.

Furs sprouted all over my body, and my wolf howled out in triumph.

'What happened just now?' I looked around through my wolf's sharp sight at the confused look on the faces of my pack members.

Some held a hand to their mouth in surprise.

'Did you just force a change on me?' I asked her,but she denied me a reply.

"And what's the meaning of this?" I watched Mathias Match towards where I stood in anger.

I whined and staggered back in fear.

"Is this a joke?" He looked at his Beta, his coffee-brown eyes which I once thought beautiful was blazing in fury all directed at me.

Marcus trembling in fear and confusion tried to explain himself but to no avail.

"What's the meaning of this?" He thundered again and the whole pack went silent.

"The moon goddess has chosen for you Alpha Mathias."

A strange voice replied from the crowd.

Everyone turned to see who it was.
