CHAPTER THREESandra stood at the window looking out. Before coming to Brighton she had often longed to walk on the Steine, which she had heard was the fashionable promenade where everybody who was staying in Brighton wanted to be seen. But she found that Kyle House, like Mrs. Fitzherbert’s had a balcony from where one could watch the passers-by even better than if one was amongst them.
