Chapter 3

Justin did not even turn around after hearing Kenneth’s words because from the beginning, he already made up his mind about how this matter would end. “Kenneth,” he said calmly, his voice low but carrying the kind of authority that made people obey instinctively, “there is no need to move the Northern Army for something like this. This is my personal matter, and I will handle it myself. Order all troops to return to the border immediately.” Kenneth’s expression changed slightly because he understood very well what Justin was capable of when dealing with enemies personally, but despite his concern, he still straightened his posture immediately and lowered his head respectfully. “Yes, General,” he replied firmly. “I will give the order right away.” For a moment, Justin remained silent before speaking again without emotion. “And the information I requested earlier?” Kenneth nodded immediately. “We have confirmed everything already. Anita Black is still in Boron City, and Jaden’s location has also been found.” The moment that name entered the air, the atmosphere around Justin changed instantly. Jaden. The man who led the ambush ten years ago. The man who stood there while his mother begged for mercy. The same man whose people pointed guns at innocent children without hesitation. And the same man whose hands were stained with his family’s blood. Justin’s eyes slowly darkened as killing intent flashed deep inside them. “Jaden…” he repeated quietly, but the calmness in his voice only made it more terrifying. Then he finally turned and started walking toward the black car waiting nearby while Kenneth followed silently behind him. When Justin reached the car door, he stopped briefly before speaking in a cold voice that carried not even the slightest trace of mercy. “Let’s visit that mad dog first,” he said while opening the door calmly. “After that… we’ll go see that evil b***h Anita personally.” At the same time, inside an abandoned warehouse on the other side of the city, a completely different scene was unfolding. The large iron doors were tightly shut while every window had been sealed completely, making escape almost impossible. The only light inside came from a single bulb hanging weakly from above, swinging slightly as it cast shifting shadows across the concrete floor. An elderly man in his late fifties was tightly tied to a metal chair at the center of the warehouse, his expensive suit torn apart and stained heavily with blood and dirt while his body leaned forward painfully from exhaustion and repeated beatings. Beside him on the ground was a young woman whose wrists had been tied tightly behind her back. Tears filled her eyes as she struggled desperately to hold herself together, but the fear on her face was impossible to hide anymore. Around them stood nearly twenty armed men forming a loose circle while holding knives, iron rods, and guns casually in their hands like people who had done this kind of thing too many times to feel anything about it anymore. One of the men slowly stepped forward while chewing gum lazily, then grabbed the old man’s hair roughly and forced his head upward. “Hey, old man,” he said with a mocking grin, his deep voice echoing across the warehouse, “you’ve really disappointed Boss Jaden badly this time.” “You should stop wasting my time and sign those papers already, because I do not have all night to stand here waiting for an old man to accept reality.” The voice was calm, but the threat hidden inside it was impossible to miss. The man who spoke slowly stepped forward from the crowd, and the moment he appeared clearly, the atmosphere inside the warehouse became even heavier. It was Jaden. He was a huge man in his late forties with a body built like someone who had spent his entire life breaking people for a living. His broad shoulders stretched tightly beneath his long black coat as he moved slowly toward the center of the room, his heavy boots making quiet sounds against the floor. A thick cigarette rested between his lips as smoke rose lazily upward, and the expression on his face made it clear that this entire situation bored him completely. To him, this was just another job. Christopher Clark slowly lifted his head despite the pain shooting through his body, and although his arms ached badly from being tied for so long, he still forced himself to sit straighter as the pride of a powerful man refused to break. “You cannot do this to me,” he said through clenched teeth, forcing authority into his voice even while blood stained the side of his face. “I am Christopher Clark, the head of the Clark family. I refuse to be treated like some low-class criminal by people like you.” Jaden chuckled softly as if he had just heard a child say something foolish. He took a slow drag from his cigarette before leaning closer and exhaling the smoke directly into Christopher’s face without the slightest respect. “I honestly do not care who you are,” Jaden said flatly, his voice calm and cold. “You could be the richest man in this city or the president himself, and it would not matter to me. I am only here to do my job.” He gave a slight nod to one of the men standing nearby. Immediately, the man stepped forward and tossed a thick folder onto Christopher’s lap. The papers slid open enough to reveal transfer agreements and company ownership documents waiting to be signed. Jaden looked down at him with complete indifference. “Miss Anita wants your company,” he said plainly. “And before tonight ends, it will belong to her whether you sign willingly or not.” Christopher’s jaw tightened so hard that his entire face trembled with anger. “You really think this ends well for you?” he growled, struggling hard against the ropes until the chair shook beneath him. “I have power, influence, and people who will come looking for me very soon. When they find out what happened here, none of you will leave this city alive.” The smile on Jaden’s face disappeared immediately. Without warning, he reached into his coat and pulled out a sharp dagger before pressing the cold edge slowly against Christopher’s cheek. Christopher froze instantly as the blade bit lightly into his skin. Jaden’s eyes became terrifyingly calm as he leaned down closer and spoke in a low voice. “Then let me explain this very clearly so your old brain can understand it.” The blade pressed harder, drawing a thin line of blood down Christopher’s face. “We can handle this the easy way, and you sign those papers like a smart man…” His voice dropped lower as the dagger slowly moved closer to Christopher’s throat. “Or we can do it the hard way, and I start removing pieces of your body while your daughter watches.” On the floor nearby, Anna Clark’s body shook violently as tears poured down her face. Her breathing became uneven as fear tightened painfully around her chest while she stared helplessly at the knife resting against her father’s throat. Every shallow breath made her ribs ache, but the terror in her heart was far worse than the pain. Still, Christopher raised his head again, his eyes burning with fury despite everything. “And who the hell does Anita think she is?” he roared while straining hard against the ropes. “Trying to steal my company by force like some shameless animal?” The next second— Slap! The sound exploded across the warehouse as Jaden’s heavy hand crashed across Christopher’s face, snapping his head violently to the side and sending blood flying from his mouth. The sound of the slap echoed heavily across the entire warehouse as Christopher’s head snapped violently to the side from the force of the hit, and blood immediately spilled from the corner of his mouth before slowly dripping down onto the torn collar of his shirt. Jaden stared at him coldly while flexing his fingers slightly, his expression dark and dangerous as anger finally appeared clearly on his face. “How dare you speak about her like that?” he growled in a low voice filled with warning. “Do you even understand who Anita is now?” He grabbed Christopher’s hair roughly and forced his head upward again. “She is no longer the woman you used to know,” Jaden continued coldly. “She is now the wife of Allistair Brentwood, the most powerful man in the entire Boron City, and people like you are not even qualified to stand in front of her anymore.” His eyes narrowed dangerously. “So whether you accept it or not, you will obey.” “Dad!” Anna cried out desperately as she forced herself toward Christopher despite her hands still being tied painfully behind her back, and the moment she reached him, she pressed herself against his side while trying her best to support his weakened body. Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face as she looked at the blood around his mouth, and her entire body trembled from fear and helplessness. “Dad, are you okay?” she asked shakily, her voice almost breaking completely as panic filled her chest. Christopher coughed painfully, causing more blood to stain his lips, but even in that condition, he still forced himself to smile weakly at his daughter because the last thing he wanted was for her to lose hope completely. “I’m fine,” he whispered softly while trying to calm her despite his own suffering. “Don’t be scared… Dad is still here.”
