Chapter 4

1221 Words
For more than ten years, Anita had controlled Boron City from the shadows without showing mercy to anyone who stood in her way. Ever since marrying Allistair Brentwood, her power rose to a terrifying level because with the Brentwood family backing her, there were very few people left in the city who could challenge her openly. Whenever a family refused to submit, they would suddenly begin losing everything one piece at a time. Their companies would collapse mysteriously, their businesses would be taken away, and sometimes people simply disappeared completely without anyone daring to ask questions afterward. That was how the Brentwood family slowly climbed to the top of Boron City until their name became untouchable and their authority absolute. Still, even in that situation, Christopher refused to lower his head. “I will never hand over my company,” he said hoarsely while slowly lifting his bleeding face again. “I do not care who sent you or who stands behind you.” Jaden stared at him for a few seconds before a slow and cruel smile appeared on his face. “Fine,” he replied calmly while nodding slowly as if he had finally made a decision. “Then let’s make things more interesting.” The moment those words left his mouth, several men nearby stepped closer immediately, and their eyes all shifted toward Anna at the same time. The fear on Anna’s face deepened instantly. Jaden looked at Christopher and smiled darkly. “Since you care more about your pride than your daughter’s safety,” he said casually, “then I guess I’ll just have to enjoy your daughter right here in front of you while you sit there helplessly watching.” His voice remained calm, but the cruelty inside his words made Christopher’s entire body shake with rage. “Let’s see how long you can continue acting tough after that.” Christopher’s eyes widened instantly as panic and fury exploded inside him at the same time, and he began struggling violently against the ropes until the chair nearly tipped over. “Don’t you dare touch her!” he roared furiously while blood vessels bulged across his neck. “If you lay a finger on my daughter, I swear I will kill every one of you!” But Jaden only laughed coldly before suddenly stepping forward and grabbing Anna roughly by the wrist. Anna screamed immediately and struggled with all her strength, trying desperately to pull away from him, but Jaden’s grip felt like iron wrapped around her arm, completely impossible to escape from. “Let me go!” she cried desperately while kicking and clawing at him in panic. “Please let me go!” Her nails dug into his arm repeatedly, but it made no difference at all. Jaden sneered mockingly. “You should have listened, old man,” he said while tightening his grip even more. Then suddenly— Fweep! A sharp sound suddenly sliced through the air so fast that nobody inside the warehouse even had time to react properly. The next second, a dagger appeared out of nowhere spinning violently before piercing straight through Jaden’s wrist with terrifying precision. “ARGH!!” Jaden let out a horrifying scream as blood sprayed violently across the floor while his fingers loosened instantly from the shock and pain. Anna collapsed backward immediately while Jaden staggered away clutching his mangled wrist, his face twisted completely from agony and disbelief as blood poured heavily through his fingers. Everyone inside the warehouse froze instantly. Then a calm voice echoed slowly from above them. “Didn’t your mother teach you how to treat a woman properly?” The entire warehouse became silent. Every single head snapped upward immediately. A man was sitting casually on one of the steel beams above them with one leg hanging loosely while his arms remained crossed calmly over his chest as though he had only been watching a boring performance the entire time. There was nothing hurried or tense about him. But somehow, his presence alone made the entire atmosphere feel strange and suffocating. Anna stared upward blankly while her breathing became uneven, because for some reason, the moment she looked at that man, she suddenly felt that everything was about to change completely. Jaden’s face twisted violently with rage as he clutched his injured wrist while staring upward like a madman who could not believe someone actually dared to attack him. “Who the f**k are you?!” he roared furiously, his voice echoing across the warehouse. “Kill him! Kill that bastard right now!” The men around him reacted instantly as years of habit kicked in, and within a second, guns were raised toward the ceiling while fingers tightened around triggers without hesitation. Then gunfire exploded across the warehouse. Bullets ripped wildly through the steel beams above while sparks burst across the metal structures and pieces of concrete shattered apart from the impact, but before anyone could properly lock onto their target, the man sitting above them had already disappeared completely. One of the thugs looked around frantically as panic slowly entered his voice. “W-Where did he go?!” Too late. Swoosh! A terrifying blur suddenly flashed through the room so fast that nobody could properly see it. Then— Slash! A horrifying scream exploded from one of the men as his arm was severed completely from the shoulder before crashing heavily onto the ground while blood sprayed violently across the nearby wall. Before the others could even react— Stab! Another man froze completely as a blade pierced directly through his throat, cutting off his scream instantly before his body collapsed lifelessly onto the floor. Justin moved through the warehouse like a phantom nobody could follow properly. One second he was on one side of the room, and the next second he had already appeared somewhere else entirely. Before a thug behind him could even turn around fully, Justin’s knee smashed upward into the man’s face with terrifying force, and the sickening sound of bones breaking echoed instantly as the thug collapsed backward unconscious. Justin spun immediately afterward, driving his elbow directly into another man’s throat so hard that the man dropped his weapon while choking violently before crashing onto the floor. Another thug rushed toward him with a steel rod raised high, but Justin kicked him so hard in the chest that his body flew backward violently before smashing into a stack of wooden crates with a loud crashing sound. The entire warehouse descended into chaos. Blades flashed constantly through the air. Blood splattered across the floor. Men screamed one after another as Justin tore through them mercilessly without slowing down even once. Some collapsed while clutching deep wounds desperately. Others died before they could even understand what happened to them. And the most terrifying part was that throughout the entire m******e, Justin’s expression never changed at all. He remained calm. Cold. Emotionless. As though killing these men meant absolutely nothing to him. In less than twenty seconds, the warehouse became silent again. Every single one of Jaden’s men was already lying motionless on the ground, their blood spreading slowly beneath them while the smell of death filled the entire place. Only Jaden remained standing. And for the first time in many years, fear finally appeared in his eyes.
