Emmeline’s POV
I wake up finding myself back in the clearing, staring up at the beautiful night sky littered with stars. I sit up in an instant and start to look for the woman at the edge of the clearing. Surprisingly, unlike my last dream there is no woman. I let out a sigh of relief and slump my shoulders. This isn’t the same dream.
I can hear the soft hum of music in the distance. I pull myself in a standing position and walk towards the music. About fifteen minutes of walking through the dense forest I find myself back at the lake side cabin. Except the cabin was dark and there was no one outside. I walk towards the building and spot the area where the bonfire was. There was no flame, but a small plume of smoke billowed up into the sky. It was recently put out by someone.
I glance around trying to find anyone, but spot no one. There was no more music and all the lights were off. I spot the dock and smile softly thinking about my interactions with Clark. I wanted to walk back out there and relive that moment, but before I could make any movements the same large growl from my previous dream fills the air. I glance around frantically trying to find a place to hide. I run to the front of the cabin and try the door. Luckily for me it was open. I run inside and look around the front foyer. Another growl fills the air, this time it was closer. I run up a set of stairs and push open the first door I spot. I am standing in a large bedroom with a large bed. I crawl across the floor and slide under the bed.
I hear the front door of the cabin bang open. I muffle myself by placing my hand over my mouth. Silent tears fall down my cheeks as I listen to the growling coming from the first floor. Someone slowly stomps up the steps and the growling gets louder. One by one doors fly open until the intruder is now standing outside of the room, I’m in.
The door flies open, and I can see a pair of black boots standing in the doorway. I watch the boots enter the room and slowly walk around the bed.
“I can smell your fear little Luna.” A deep voice states. I furrow my brows at the statement. This person is chasing the wrong person. He is after the Luna.
The person sits on the bed and sighs. “We can do this the easy way or the hard way little one.”
I continue to muffle my breaths with my hand and squeeze my eyes shut. I focus on my heartbeat trying to lower it. The male in the room sighs and stands. I open my eyes and watch him walk out of the room. I myself let out a low sigh and uncover my mouth. I listen, but don’t hear the male anymore. I close my eyes and try to relax my tense muscles.
“Hard way I suppose.” The voice says making my eyes shoot open.
I feel a hand grasp my ankle and pull me out from underneath the bed. I try to fight my assailant, but it feels like I’m fighting with a brick wall. He grabs my wrists and pulls me towards his chest. My chest is flush with his making me uncomfortable.
I scream and thrash against him trying to break free. “Let go of me!” I scream at him and hit him against the chest.
“And why would I ever let go of my Luna?” He smirks and pulls me closer to him. I gasp and look at him. He is tall with shaggy black hair swooped off his face. His eyes are dark brown, almost black. He has a large build, but he is not the largest male I have come across. I notice that he is shirtless and is only wearing a pair of faded jeans. Tattoos cover his chest and arms. He grins as he notices me looking at him. He moves his hand to my face and caresses my cheek. His touch is cold and makes a shiver run down my back.
I take the opportunity to throat punch him. He stumbles back coughing while I run out of his grasp and out the room. I stumble down the stairs and out the front door. I can hear the male inside coming after me, which pushes me to move faster. I get to the back of the cabin but stumble on a rope. I hear a growl in front of me. I look up and see a large black wolf with blue eyes staring at me. I stumble back but hit something hard. I look up to see the male glowering at the male.
“She is mine!” He states grabbing me by the throat and pulling me into a standing position. The wolf takes a step towards us snarling. I try to speak up but the males grasp is crushing the air within me.
“One more step, and I will take her here and now.” The male says pulling me closer to him. The wolf snarls again and more howls fill the air. I hear a snarl behind. Pain surges through my neck as I realize this male is biting me, marking me as his. Wolves come running out from the woods with the black one leading the charge.
Everything starts to shake and I scream as the male drops me to the ground. The place starts to spin as the everything continues to shake. I close my eyes and grab my neck trying to ease the pain.
“Emmeline!” A voice calls out to me. “Emmeline, stop! Get up!” The voice demands.
I open my eyes to see my brother standing over me shirtless shaking me. I fling my arms up smacking him in the face. He looks stunned for a second, but quickly grabs my hands and pulls me into a hug.
“Emmeline, it is okay. You’re okay!” He says holding me. I break down into sobs and throw my arms around him hoping to never let go. It feels like forever before my sobs end and I can compose myself enough to take slow regular breaths. I lean back to look at my brother and notice that he is shirtless with a pair of shorts thrown on. Oh goddess, he was probably with Kenzie. He came here because of me and I hit him.
“Matt, I’m so sorry.” I say pulling my knees into a hug and placing my face in my hands. “You should go, you don’t have to be here.”
“Emmy, I will always be here for you.” He says gently while pulling my hands away from my face slowly. “What happened?”
“I had a horrible dream that felt so real.”
Matt looks concerned and rubs my back. “Has this happened before?”
“Yes.” I state looking down.
He nods slowly and takes a deep breath. “Emmy, are those from the dream?” He asks pointing to my arms. I shake my head slowly indicating no.
“Then who did that to you?” He asks with his jaw tensed.
“It’s nothing Matt, just a misunderstanding that happened at school.”
“With who?” He growls lowly making my eyes go wide. I don’t respond and look away.
“Why won’t you tell me?”
“I don’t want you to get mad, and I don’t want to hurt you?” I tell him honestly. He raises an eyebrow and opens his mouth to say something when someone from the doorway clears their throat. I look past Matt to see Kenzie glaring at me. She is dressed in only his t-shirt.
“Baby you left me.” She whines leaning against the doorway.
“I’ll be right there.” He states giving her a small nod.
“No, he is coming right now.” I state pushing him off of my bed. “Go Matt, I don’t need you anymore.” I get up and walk to my bathroom shutting the door before anyone can say anything else.
I turn on the shower to cover to muffle all the noise. Sliding to the cold bathroom floor as steam fills the room, I hug my knees to my chest and cry. What is happening to me?
