They loaded the baby in the car and headed home. Kathy's mom was making dinner when they got there. Matt went to take the baby to their bedroom to nap. “I put his crib in my room.”

“You didn't have to do that, Mom.”

“I don't mind. You two can use the privacy.”

“Thank you Mom,” Matt said. She smiled.

“So how did it go?” she asked.

“Surprisingly well,” Kathy said. “They loved Matthew.”

“Who wouldn't,” she said. “He's an angel.”

“His mom apologized for all she had done. They even told me how proud they were of all I've accomplished.”

“Wow, well, that's great. I'm glad you will be starting your marriage with peace amongst you all.”

After dinner, Kathy went and laid down. Matt sat with Josephine for a little while talking before joining her. Kathy was already undressed and in bed with her eyes closed. Matt undressed and joined her. He cuddled up to her and realized she, too, was completely naked. She settled up against him with her back against his chest. Kathy quickly fell asleep. Matt drifted off a little while later.

Kathy woke up hysterical. Matt jumped up. “What's wrong?” he asked.

“Nothing, I'm fine.”

“No, you're not. What's wrong?”

“I was having a horrible dream.”

“You wanna tell me about it?” he asked.

“I was dreaming that this wasn't all real. I had to accept you were gone.”

He held her close, “I'm here, this is all real, and I'm not going anywhere.”

“I love you so much.”

“I know, I love you so much too. Lay back down, and I'll hold you until you fall back to sleep.”

She curled back against him. After a few minutes, she said, “Matt, make love to me, right now, exactly how we are.”

“Are you serious?”

“Yes, I need you to.”

“As you wish.” He certainly wasn't going to argue with her.

She ran her hand behind her and stroked him firmly. He reached between her legs and fondled her c**t, occasionally putting his finger inside her. “Oh god, Matt, I need you inside me.”

He slightly lifted her leg and put himself inside her. “Oh,” he groaned. This was not a position they used much. He held her hip and slowly slid in and out of her, careful not to hurt her. Matt finally asked, “Holy f**k Kathy, where the hell did that come from?”

“I'm not entirely sure, I just needed to have you inside me.”

Still slightly panting, he said, “God, that was incredible. Any time you wanna go another round like that, just let me know.”

She smiled as he wrapped his arms around her soft body. As if on cue, Matt fell back to sleep. She laid there a little while trying to clear her mind. Finally, she fell asleep.

In the morning, Kathy started making the flight arrangements. Fortunately, the first class pod on the plane next to hers was still available. She booked it under Matt’s name and added the baby as a lap passenger.

Matt went to work to arrange for his leave. When he got there, he went to his supervisor’s office.

“Hey, can we talk?” Matt asked.

“Sure, come in and have a seat Matt.”

“Thanks.”

“What’s up?”

“I know this is short notice, but I need to take a leave of absence.”

“Is everything alright?”

“Actually, things couldn’t be better.” He paused. His supervisor looked confused. “I just found out I’m a dad.”

“Wow Matt, that’s fantastic, but I didn’t think you were seeing anyone.”

“I’m not.”

“Ohhh.”

“No, not like that. You remember my accident?”

“Yeah.”

“I had a girlfriend at that time, Kathy, and I was going to propose to her. After everyone presumed I was dead, she couldn’t handle things and left. No one knew where she went. So this past weekend was two years since it happened, and I went to the site hoping she might return. Well, she did and she also returned with my son.”

“Oh my god, Matt. That’s incredible. Congratulations.”

“So I need to go back to LA with her so she can tie up loose ends. I can’t let her go alone. And I have so much lost time with my son to make up.”

“So take as much time as you need. You have paternity leave.”

“I do? I was joking about that with Kathy.”

“Just go to HR and fill out the paperwork. I’ll sign off on it.”

He went and got the forms. He called Kathy to tell her he had been approved for leave.

“How long are they giving you?”

“As long as I need.”

“Great, when are you coming home?”

“I’m going to finish the day, and then I’ll be home.”

“Ok, love you.”

“Love you too.”

Kathy ended the call and put Matthew down for his nap.
