Chapter 24: Acceptance and understanding

I think a week passed by all nice and peaceful, no going in to heat, when the bond started acting up again, it was like the damn thing had a mind of its own.
I woke up to find I wasn’t in bed with my mates’ I was in a different bed and looking over I saw Nick sleeping beside me. I tried to hold my gasp, but a little yelp still escaped, making him groggily open his eyes.
When he saw me, he groaned, “again? Go to your own bed Rose.”
“Sorry, I think I slept walked again, I’m so confused.” I climbed out of the bed, and he said, “I’m sorry.”
I turned to look back at him. “Huh?”
“I’m sorry for all this s.hit that’s happening to you. I know it’s my fault.”
His words hurt my heart, I went back over to him and said, “it’s not your fault Nick, it’s nobody’s fault, the most tragic thing that could happen to a werewolf happened to you, you had no control over that.”
He didn’t answer me and I thought he was done talking, but then I heard him make a noise. Looking more closely in the dark, I realized he was quietly crying.
I got back on to the bed and lay beside him. He turned his back on me, embarrassed and mumbled, “leave me alone.”
“No way.” I wrapped my arm around him and pressed myself as firmly against him as I could and held him. He didn’t push me away and when I next opened my eyes it was morning, and I was sprawled across Nicks chest.
Luckily, my bottom half was still on the bed. We must have fallen asleep at some point. I looked at him, he didn’t have quite the same beautiful looks as my mates’ he was a little more rugged, but he still had perfect full lips and flawless skin, he had a nice natural tan which I knew meant he must spend a lot of time outdoors.
He still had hot model looks, and I wondered why the goddess would bless me so much with these male hunks in my lives and curse them with my ugly a.ss. Oh well, I wasn’t going to complain!
I was lost staring at him dreamily when he opened his eyes and looked at me. I quickly sat up, and he frowned, “I don’t remember falling asleep.”
“Neither do I. I’m sorry, I’ll go.” I got up to leave, but he touched my hand lightly. “Thank you, last night…it helped.”
“I’m glad, being an omega means I can also help calm wolves and provide a sort of pain relief too, it’s stronger in wolf form, so if you need me again I can shift for you.”
He looked surprised at that information, but typical male, he grew cold and serious again and sat up. “Ok. I need to get dressed.”
I left him and as I was closing the door I bumped into Jax.
“There you are, I wondered where the f***k you snuck off to. Did you need help with your heat problem again?”
“No! I would never do that to you guys, ok, I know I did in the bunker, but I literally lost control and I—”
I was rushing my words, and he cut me off. “It’s alright darling, I know, and I trust you, but if it does happen, you can go to Nick until we sort this s.hit out.”
“But—”
“But nothing, we aren’t enough anymore, and I’ve noticed since you last had help from him, it’s been quiet until last night?”
“Yes, I wasn’t in heat I just sort of sometimes sleep walk in to his room, like my wolf needs to be near his or something.”
“Maybe he can stay with you today, then.”
“What?”
“Fenris is busy with pack stuff as always, Rom’s got pack members that want to talk with him today and then his got classes and I need to punish Caleb again, the f.ucking i.diot, so we won’t be around today. I wanted to take the kids out to eat for lunch and then go to the park, I don’t want to let them down, and I don’t like you being out alone with them when you’re an omega. Take him with you.”
“You trust him?” I asked.
“Not at first, but yeah, he could have turned on us when we helped him take down his brother, but he didn’t, he helped you when he could have refused, and he also knows if anything happens to you, it will affect him too.”
“Fenris and Romulus won’t like it.”
“I’ll deal with them, you just give the kids a nice time. I’m guessing if he’s with you, it should keep the heat in check.”
“It didn’t when we went after Joel.”
“Yeah, but since he’s helped, it’s been quiet since. If it gets too much, he can bring you home since he can control himself better.”
I slapped his arm for that, and he laughed, “nothing wrong with you being all lustful darling, though I’d rather it was aimed towards me.”
“I will be lustful for you later,” I teased.
He leaned down and kissed me softly on the lips. “Good, you best keep that promise.”
We kissed for a while, his tongue dancing around mine sensuously, I enjoyed the taste of him, vanilla and power, and when we finally pulled apart I asked, “where are the kids?”
“They’re downstairs, Chantelle’s making them breakfast.”
“I hate her being near them,” I grumbled.
He kissed my forehead and laughed softly, “I know darling, she’s a f.ucking b.itch, but she’s really good with them.”
Chantelle wasn’t mean to me anymore, well, she was still a b.itch and could be nasty but she had mostly calmed down since she had found her own true mate, and we’d found out she’d hated me so much not because I was an omega but because she was jealous of me being with Fenris, she’d been in love with him.
I changed the subject and admitted, “I’m scared to go out with them, I don’t want to lose control in front of them.”
He took my hand and said, “come with me.” He pulled me downstairs and in to the office where Fenris was sitting and went back out and got Romulus too.
When we were all inside he said, “Rose is going through some tough s.hit right now with the mate bond, when we helped Nick with his brother I saw it at its worst, she was almost in pain and crying from the frustration, I had to let Nick help because it wouldn’t work with me anymore. We can’t help anymore so I think until we sort this out we need to be understanding and let Nick help Rose when it happens.”
Fenris was about to say something when Jax added, “even while she was going through that she refused to complete the bond with him even though I said we’d understand, we can trust her, just him touching her helps.”
Fenris looked at him angrily but when he looked at me his face softened. “It’s not nice watching you suffer, so I’ll agree to it, but Jax I don’t want you f.ucking making decisions for her to complete the bond without discussing it with me and Romulus first.”
“Sorry, f.ucking hell, I didn’t like seeing her like that, it was f.ucking awful.”
Romulus stepped towards me and stroked my hair softly. “We owe her this, when our bond broke we all f.ucked other people, we can at least allow her to have her second chance mate for now. We don’t have to like it, but we can understand it and be mature about it.”
Jax snorted at him, “easy for you to agree to, you’d probably get off on watching them, you dirty f.uck.”
Romulus punched him in the groin, making Jax grab his bits and double over. “f***k!”
“I was going to be nice and just mention we all f.ucked up when the mate bond broke because we couldn’t keep it in our f.ucking pants for more than five minutes, but you were f.ucking Aurora before any of that happened.”
“Alright, no need to get your f.ucking knickers in a twist! D.ickhead! And I didn’t f***k her!” Jax punched Romulus in the stomach and I rolled my eyes, even after all these years, and they still were such boys.
“You f.ucking did everything else with her.”
“Guys! Stop, we’ve moved past all of that, things are different, and I’m not doing anything that would make you unhappy.”
Surprisingly, Fenris was the one who said, “it’s fine, use him when you need him, just don’t complete the mate bond with him without talking to us.”
“I would never, even in the forest he refused to touch me, he said he didn’t want to be disrespectful to you guys, so neither one of us will be completing anything.”
They all looked surprised when I mentioned what Nick had said, and it seemed to make the annoyance in Fenris’ eyes dissipate.
“I don’t mind Nick,” Jax shrugged.
We all looked at him. “What?” He said defensively. “I have respect for him, we both served, and he was good out there when we took down that crazy f***k and his f.ucking pet cat.” I tried not to laugh at him calling Sarah a cat.
“You got a crush on him?” Romulus teased.
We were expecting him to say no straight away, but Jax blushed and shoved Romulus. “f***k off.”
“So you do!” Romulus said both teasing but also sounding as stunned as I was.
“No!”
When we just looked at him, he muttered, “fine, I think his f.ucking hot, and I wouldn’t mind sharing Rose with him.”
My eyes grew wide and he looked at me. “What? You know I don’t give a s.hit about gender.”
“Yeah, but you like submissive men, and Nick is anything but submissive.”
He shrugged, “yeah, probably wouldn’t want to f***k him unless he’s submissive in bed, but I wouldn’t mind kissing him or sucking his c.ock.”
“f***k, go talk about that s.hit somewhere else,” Romulus pulled a face, he couldn’t be more straight if he tried, Fenris was completely straight too but wasn’t fazed by Jax’s words.
Jax pushed Romulus again and snapped, “f***k off, don’t be so childish.”
“I’m not, I just don’t want to listen to you talk about sucking on c.ocks.”
I was quiet, and then I said, “this whole situation is weird, and I can’t be like you guys, I don’t know if it’s just the bond trying to force us to complete it or if I’m just more empathic than you guys, but I can’t help having feelings towards Nick. I think it’s only fair that if you have to share me with him for now, then you can also date other people.”
“I don’t want anyone,” Jax said.
Romulus gave him a dirty look, “no, you just want Rose to share Nick with you.”
“No I f.ucking don’t, shut the f***k up before I make you.”
Fenris gave Romulus a warning look, I’d seen it enough times over the years that I knew it was a warning to not push Jax too far, Jax had a tendency to go into scary mode and completely lose control, if pushed too far he’d almost kill you and have to be taken down to the cages to calm down. Romulus caught the look and backed off.
Fenris said, “I don’t want anyone, I’m too busy with work even if I did, I quite literally only have time for one lady in my life,” he winked at me and I blushed.
I worked up the courage to say, “if, let’s say, I one day ended up completing the bond with Nick with your approval, you’d probably want to date other girls right? You know I’m tight and sometimes get sore with you three, so what if I couldn’t satisfy you all?”
Fenris answered, “one, you are not completing the bond with him, two, if, it happened, I can take s**x or leave it.” When Romulus gave him a look he muttered, “fine, I get horny, but I’m happy waiting a few days for Rose to recover, I’m usually busy anyway, which is why we went through that rough patch we’ve recently fixed.”
Romulus said, “I’m really horny, it would be hard not f.ucking you at least once every other day, so maybe I’d f***k other females, but I’d never date one or make any connection, and it would only ever be with your permission.”
It was stupid, but I felt jealousy at the thought of him with another woman, but I’d have to be open-minded or it wouldn’t be fair.
He saw my face and pulled me into his arms. “I would never do anything without your consent or behind your back, and honestly, I’d much rather you than anyone else.”
Jax shrugged, “I don’t need anyone else, I just want you, I’m used to being a virgin for so many years anyway, I can handle a few days without s**x. I don’t think we’d need anyone else anyway, we make it work with us three, these days your body is used to us, and it takes a few hours in between depending on how many times one of us has f.ucked you. We’d make it work with him too.”
Fenris got up and wrapped his arms around me. “You’re ours Rose, always will be, we aren’t sharing you anytime soon, and if it came to it Jax is right, we would make it work, but right now, I don’t want to think of you with another male, especially another alpha wolf I don’t know.”
I wrapped my arms around him and held him tight.
Romulus went and got ready for his appointment with a pack member, and Fenris got back to work too.
I was nervous as hell, but I got the kids ready and had Nick reluctantly agree to come with me, and then we left the house.
