It's 5 am in the morning and I'm running like crazy on the training ground. For some reason I just can't seem to shake off my crazy thoughts that have been driving me crazy for hours.

My legs had started to feel numb but I didn't want them to stop in hopes that my mind would stop thinking about the Alpha and focus on the numbness of my legs. But it didn't seem to work. I was fully drenched in sweat by the time I decided to stop. I didn't know for how long I'd been running but when I finally did, the sun had started to be seen in the horizon.

I took a towel and rubbed my sweaty face. Taking a water bottle from the ground I hydrated myself and poured some on my face.

"So, you've been hiding here" I heard a familiar voice. I didn't have to turn around to see who it was.

I turned around to face my so-called mate and gave her smile, "what are you doing here Ruth?" I asked as I gulped down another bottle.

"Looking for you, of course" she said sounding a bit angry as she crossed her arms across her chest. "You totally disappeared since we came to the pack house"

I could see disappointment and sadness in her hazel eyes. She must be feeling lonely. I didn't even know how to comfort her as I was good with these kind of things. And pretending to be her mate was even harder. I could never meet her expectations.

"I'm sorry" I sighed, feeling guilty. "I was busy. What do you want me to do? Tell me and I'll do it to make it up to you."

She seemed to be immersed in thoughts for a while. Moments later, her eyes shone in excitement. "Take me on a date!"

For a moment, I was dunbfounded. A date? I didn't even know what I was supposed to do in a date. But I couldn't possibly hurt her feelings so I just agreed.

"Alright! Let me take quick shower first" I said already hating my sweaty body.

She nodded and I headed towards my room to get cleaned up.

I waited patiently in my car for Ruth to come down. Man, she was taking forever. I was glancing at my watch every now and then as I grew more impatient over time. Normally I would just lie around taking naps. However, ever since I came to the capital, my life became a total mess.

After waiting almost for an hour, Ruth came stumbling upon her red heels. What a painful sight to behold! I admit that she looked gorgeous in her red dress with her red hair tied in a high ponytail. Her red lips complimented her heart shaped face. Woah! This girl sure loves red.

"It's just a simple date. Why don't you wear something comfortable?" I said when she got seated next to me.

She glared at me as if shooting bullets through her eyes. "You don't understand what it means for a girl to go on a first date."

"Is this your first date?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"So what if it is?" she shouted in half anger and half embarrassment. "I'm just loyal to my mate" she mumbled making me smile slightly as I shook my head watching her reaction. She looks just like me when I'm around the Alpha.

Alpha again? Seriously? I'm on a date with a beautiful woman by my side. If not on a romantic level, at least I should have have fun and forget about him. This damn mind!

"what are you laughing about?" I heard Ruth's angry voice. "Are you laughing at me?"

"I promise, I'm not" I reassured her as I gave her my most sincere smile.

"Then what are you laughing about?" she asked in a loud voice, almost shouting.

"I just think your reactions are cute" I said looking straight ahead.

There was a good minute of silence. "Y-you perv" she stuttered making me look at her in surprise only to find her blushing like a tomato.

Did I embarrass her? Did I just unknowingly flirt with her? Crap! I'm not supposed to be getting close to anybody. I'm afraid my own brother will kill me first for stealing his mate before the Alpha does. I should be careful not to strike any heartstrings.

The car ride was silent for the rest of the way. I parked the car in front of a large restaurant. Ruth looked out the window and cringed.

"Can we go somewhere else?" she asked looking away from the men that were walking out of the restaurant.

I looked at the men in suspicion but nodded anyway, "Sure. Where would you like to go?" I asked.

"Anywhere less crowded" she replied.

"OK" I said and drove away from the restaurant.

I took her to my favorite ice cream parlor since not many people came there. I made her sit on one of the tables and went to get the ice-creams. I made my order and waited for it to be prepared.

"Beta Forest! Is that you?" I heard someone call behind me.

I turned around to see the kitchen maid from the pack house. Some girls had turned their heads towards me and were already whispering in excitement. Some were taking pictures while some had already approached me. This doesn't seem good.

"Hi there, miss Turner" I greeted her recalling her name. "Excuse me for being rude but I'm on a date right now" I said politely trying to get out of the situation.

The girls around me looked disappointed but that didn't stop them from trapping me around them so I couldn't get out.

"Beta, you've so many girls around you. Why would you be satisfied with one?" Miss Turner pouted her lips as the girls nodded.

I saw more girls rushing towards me in excitement as panic started to rise in my chest. How the hell is it so crowded today? Great! Just my luck! The situation is getting out of hand. I must do something.

" Sir here's your ice-cream " relieved, I took the ice-cream and paid the bill. Ready to walk away, I tried to get out of their circle but none of them seem to budge an inch.

"Girls I'm really sorry but I'm in a hurry right now or else, my date's gonna be so pissed" I said trying my best not to loose my cool.

Calm down ~calm down ~calm down

I was chanting in my head.

"we can always go out with you if she dumps you" one of them said. Still no one budged. I was almost at the point of snapping at them when a felt someone took my arm and wrapped their hand around it. I felt an intimidating aura emitting from the person next to me. I didn't even have to look at that person to know who it was. It was obviously Ruth.

"My, what a bold confession but you don't have to worry your ugly little head. I don't intend to dump him" Ruth said glaring at the girls around us, venom dripping from her every word she uttered.

The girls didn't seem to like her attitude as they mocked her, "why would our Beta want to be with a s**t like you?"

That totally pissed me off. They had no right to insult her like that even if they admired me. But I stopped when her heard her scoff at them.

"Of course, he'd want to be with me because I'm his mate. Who are you to him? A bunch of idiots running after the handsome guy?" she laughed.

They glared at her but I had no intention to intervene. This girl can handle everything. I must say I'm impressed. She's so cool, someone I desired to be long ago.

" What? You wanna fight? I'm waiting." she smirked like a badass woman she is and my eyes instantly shone in admiration. So cool!

Obviously they couldn't fight her after feeling the weight of her power that was almost the Gamma level. I faintly smiled as they left scowling leaving us alone.

"What are you laughing about?" her cold voice made me stop smiling.

"Nothing" I said as I took her hand and led her outside.

Once outside, I was instantly drowned in sorrow when I saw the dying ice-creams.

"I'm sorry. I couldn't save them" I said feeling a bit guilty for ruining the date.

She looked at me, frowning. I felt something heavy tugging my heart. Did I upset her again?

My despair came to an end when I heard her soft chuckle, " Stupid, you make it sound like someone just died."

I smile at her laughing form. If only she could laugh like that even after knowing the truth.

"Come, I'll take you on a real date." she said as she held my hand and pulled me to her side.

AHHHHHH!!!

I screamed at the top of my lungs as monkeys chased after me.

"Ruth, help me! I'm scared of monkeys" I screamed running as fast as I could.

"Sure mate! But not before you explain me about your girlfriends" she said lazily twirling a strand of hair around her finger.

"I told you they're not my girlfriends" I shouted.

"You think I'm stupid?" she flicked her fingers and more monkeys came running after me.

My eyes widened as I ran faster.

"Ruth, I'm telling the truth. I'm sorry for not telling you earlier." I shouted in her direction. Still she didn't make an effort to move from the branch she was sitting.

God! Why is this woman so crazy. I feel bad for my twin brother.

"Ruth, I'm sorry, please stop them" I pleaded one last time. I stumbled upon the roots of some old trees and feel on my face. I quickly turned over to see the monkeys pouncing on me. I didn't have the energy to dodge anymore so I just covered my eyes with my sleeves and waited for their weights to fall on me. But it never came. A while passed by but still nothing. I removed my sleeves and peeled my eyes open only to see the monkeys frozen midair. Relief washed over me as I finally let myself relax. But it didn't last long. Ruth straddled my belly as she looked down on me with unreadable expression on her face.

"Why?" she whispered as she leaned closer to me.

Panic started rising on my chest as my whole body activated to alert mode.

"Why what?" I asked, my voice weak and barely above whisper.

"Why are you so distant to me?" her voice sounded hoarse as if she hadn't been talking for quite a while. Then I her her eyes had changed color. They were purple.

"I'm not" I said trying not to feel anxious. The radiating power of her wolf summoned the presence of my own wolf who I'd tried to suppress with all I had. It'd be bad if Rex comes out.

I can't be sure if he'll protect my virginity. And if I let him loose I'm sure a hell that I'll be exposed. So I just couldn't let him take over.

"Then why don't you love me? Why do you repel from me?" her eyes sought answers that I possibly could never provide her.

She leaned closer till our foreheads were resting against each other. I was conflicted at that moment. Moving away would arouse her suspicion and staying away would just go against my morals. She was so close to claiming my lips when an angry growl interrupted us.
