Allergy

I admit that it's not my first time going to the capital but I didn't know why I was being so anxious. It was probably the fact that I was disguising as my brother and taking his role as Beta. I never really wanted to be tangled in this Beta and Alpha business but seeing the situation I'm in, I've got no choice.

My father drove us to the capital. I was still trying to convince myself that everything would be fine. I looked out the window to perceive the astounding view of the capital. If only Nathan was here, he would be so delighted to be here,to meet all the people here. He loved socializing. Thinking about him made me realize how strange it was for me to miss him even though it had just been a few hours. Grandma will be with him. Hell be fine.

As we got closer to the capital, my heart thumped in an irrational manner. I always knew what I was doing but this time I was diving into the water without measuring the depths. So it was hard to comprehend how far I could go. From today onwards, things would be changing drastically and I'd be Neeko no more. I'd be Nathan, Nathan Forest.

My father parked the car in front of a big mansion which was as big as a Palace. Any ordinary person could tell that it was pack house. Before arriving here, I had my hair cut. It felt strange without my wavy curls bothering me. As for my outfit, it didn't feel much different since I always wore boyish outfit.

Without further delay, we headed inside the mansion where we were greeted by a beautiful lady. She had blonde hair with green eyes that adorned her beautiful heart shaped face. And she had the sweetest smile I'd ever seen.

'' Luna Rivers'' my parents bowed in respect which I imitated.

'' Don't be so formal, Beta Forest''she patted his back frankly. My parents just smiled.

It didn't take her long to shift her attention to me.

''Is this your daughter, Beta? '' Luna Rivers asked in delight.

~cough~cough~

'' Ahem!... This, Luna Rivers, is my son Nathan '' my father replied uncomfortably with an awkward laugh. I could see right through his pretense.

'' Ah lovely! I didn't know such a cute boy even existed in this world'', she smiled.

''You're too humble, Luna Rivers'' my father smiled, flattered. Which father wouldn't be?

As for me, I couldn't understand what was wrong with them. I probably looked like a panda with dark circles around my eyes due to lack of sleep. If it weren't for my glasses, what little dignity I had, would have been gone. I just hoped that she wasn't making fun of me.

'' I'm being honest here. "she said. Then she turned to me," I expect you to assist my son, Elijah. He was so sweet when he was a kid but he's becoming more like his father as he grows up. I don't even know what's wrong with that kid. He's always so moody and is like a grumpy old man. But with a cute Beta by his side, I'm sure he'll smile more. I'm counting on you to cheer him, Nathan sweetie. "

By the way she smiled, I couldn't comprehend what was going on inside her head. I didn't even bother trying to figure out. But I nodded my head anyway. Come to think of it, why did she say that he's always moody? Is there anyone pulling his leg? Is he pissed off by anyone?

My chain of thoughts were interrupted by my mother who pulled me away from my father and the Luna. Once we were alone, she warned me, "you have to be very careful. Specially around the new Alpha.."

I wanted to ask why but realizing that she wasn't going to tell me anything I just nodded my head, "OK" I whispered.

"oh baby!" she had so much emotions in her eyes that I couldn't understand. She pulled me in a hug. I knew that it wasn't anyone's choice to make me do this. Suddenly a rush of emotions filled me in and I felt warm. "I'm so sorry baby. I wish we had another choice" she whispered.

There was a celebration party in the pack house on the return of the Alpha's son after three years of training. Everyone was invited. So, the pack house was basically crowded which gave my parents the perfect opportunity to drag me around and introduce me to everyone. Being an anti social freak wasn't doing any good to me. I barely managed to escape, excusing myself for bathroom.

Once outside, I felt much better. Standing alone, I let the winds caress my skin. It felt so peaceful compared to the crowded party.

I realized I was in the garden. My eyes shone in delight to see the exotic plants. So, I decided to take a tour till the party was over.

I was having fun roaming around the garden and studying the plants till I heard......

~Meow~meow~

I froze. For a moment I couldn't even think straight. Did I mention that I'm allergic to cats?

I spun around and retreated back to the mansion as soon as I could. I was almost at the entrance when a pitiful sight caught my eyes.

There, lying under a bush, was a pair of cats. One was injured while the other was l*****g it to console it. The l*****g one must be the mother and the injured one its kitten. Judging by the way it looked, the kitten's leg must be fractured.

I tried not to feel sympathetic despite being deeply affected by the sight but I couldn't. I was torn between whether I should walk away or help the poor kitten. After standing there for a good minute trying to decide what to do, I rushed inside the mansion.

"Come here Nathan!" my father called me as soon as he detected my presence. But I was too busy to heed his voice.

I asked a maid for the first aid kit along with the essential materials required. Then I rushed back to the pair of cats. Luckily, they were still there. Hurriedly, I crouched down and opened the kit. I put on the gloves and double masks for extra precaution. My hands were slightly trembling as I lowered them to treat the kitten. But that didn't stop me from treating the little kitten. As expected, its leg was fractured. I cleaned the wound and bandaged the fractured leg. The little kitten was trying to j******f the bandages but I held onto it and quickly finished the job as I couldn't bear anymore of its painful cries. The kitten looked much better after the treatment. I sighed in relief when I saw that it was feeling better.

I put the injured kitten in the warm basket. When I turned to look at its mother, she was nowhere to be found. Deciding to leave it be, I pulled out the gloves and masks. Can't believe that I finished the treatment without a single sneeze. Was it an improvement?

I held the first aid kit in one hand and the basket in the other. Feeling relieved and accomplished, I made my way to the quieter part of the mansion.

Just when I thought that I'll leave the kitten somewhere safe without having an allergic reaction, I was proved wrong. I let out a loud sneeze in the empty hallway. Then soon followed by the series of sneezes, I was literally running in a hurry to get rid of the source of my allergy. I had extended my arm as far as I could to keep the kitten as far as possible but it proved to be of no use.

~SNEEZE~

Good Lord, it's killing me. I think I overestimated myself.

As I took a turn from the corridor to the next corner I sneezed hard and bumped my head on the wall.

How the heck did a wall get here in the middle of the corridor? Confused, I looked up at the figure towering over me but I couldn't make out his features since my eyes were pooled with tears. Whoever this person was, he didn't look very happy and he was emitting a very dangerous aura. I tried to apologise but a wave of allergic reaction hit me and I sneezed on his chest again.

Oh God, I'm dead for sure!

Attempting to apologise was futile as I sensed another wave hitting me. I didn't have much time and I surely couldn't hold the basket for too long. So I made him hold the basket, "Please take good care of the kitten......" ~SNEEZE~thankfully, this time I was able to turn my head to the side. Without waiting for him to react or say anything, I just fled the scene with the first aid kit in my hand.

He must be mad. Too mad at me. But I'll apologize to him. I didn't see his face but I knew how he smelled. Fresh mint mixed with rain. That's the advantage of being a werewolf despite having sneeze attacks. I'll find him....
