Fangs in the Dark

406 Words
The humiliation still clung to him like a second skin. Every laugh, every mocking glance from his father’s associates replayed in his head. And worst of all—her. The way she looked at him, as though he were a child, throwing tantrums while she sat on his father’s throne. He could not let it stand. That night, while the estate was quiet and the air thick with the smell of rain, he waited in the shadows of the hallway near her chambers. He knew she would return from the terrace soon—he’d watched her, lounging with a glass of wine, basking in her little victory. When she finally entered, she didn’t even flinch at finding him waiting. Instead, she paused, tilted her head, and smiled as if amused. “You should be careful. Lurking in dark corners makes you look desperate.” “Don’t play with me,” he snapped, stepping forward, his hand slamming against the doorframe, caging her in. His eyes burned with something feral, something that made the air between them almost dangerous. “You think you’ve won? You humiliated me—your little game ends tonight.” She arched a brow, unbothered by his nearness. In fact, she leaned in, close enough that he caught the faint perfume clinging to her skin. “You think this is a game? Poor boy. You still don’t understand… you’ll never be able to outplay me.” His jaw clenched. For a second, he wanted to crush his mouth to hers, to prove he could take what his father had. But before he could move, she pressed a single manicured finger against his lips, silencing him. “I belong where I choose to belong,” she whispered, her voice dripping with venom and seduction. “And if you ever try to touch me without my permission…” her finger trailed down to his chest, sharp as a blade, “…you’ll regret it.” The warning in her eyes wasn’t empty—it was a promise. He swallowed, his body shaking with rage and desire, but he didn’t dare move closer. She smirked, brushing past him, her shoulder grazing his as she left him in the dark hallway, humiliated once more. But this time, his fury twisted into something uglier. He wasn’t going to just destroy her with rumours. No—he would make her bleed. And for that, he would need allies. Dangerous ones.
