Why?
It’s been years and why are they telling him to get married?
“Like I said ten years ago.” Lake began with a chuckle. “I’m not ready to search for, a Luna. I’m alright with Aurora and besides, I didn’t come to your house to tell you I’m f*****g lonely, right?” he teased.
“No one said you are lonely, Lake. We are only concerned about you. It’s been years and the seat of Luna is empty. The people are saying the reason you are not getting married is that of Aurora. They also say maybe you are impotent or you are gay.”
Lake laughed out. “Hey, don’t make me laugh. I’m not gay, neither am I impotent. My d**k is working fine, everyone. I don’t want to get married because I’m busy and besides, who is going to give our Luna attention when she needs me? I don’t want to be a miserable Alpha and a husband to the woman I’m getting married to. Aurora is already complaining, saying I don’t give her enough time, even though I try my best. Imagine my wife too. I can’t handle it. I don’t have the time for that right now. When I’m ready, I will get married, but not now.”
“It seems like you don’t understand the situation you are in, Alpha Lake. Everyone is talking and the people, the clan, need an heir, a son and an Alpha. You don’t have a son or a wife. Who is going to take after you when you die and take care of your family and the clan? Oh, don’t think it’s Aurora who’s going to take after you. She’s a Beta and can’t rule a pack. She hasn’t even had an encounter with her mate yet. Get things straight, Alpha.”
Lake laughed.
“This matter is not funny, my lord.”
“Aurora is my niece. You can’t just tell me to throw her out of the pack and bring someone else.”
Throw me out of the pack?
“No one is saying you shouldn’t take care of Aurora. What we are all trying to say is, think of yourself by getting married and having a child. You look very young and handsome. You are in your early thirties. Please Alpha Lake, it is time to do the right thing. Select a Luna according to your choice and get married to her.”
I couldn’t listen to them anymore and ran upstairs and quietly shut the door to my room. How could they force him to get married? He said he’s not getting married. Why the pressure?
This is pissing me off. Get Luna who will give him a son? Are they serious right now? They are taking this like a joke? Disregarding me as if I’m useless?
I dropped my bag on the floor, fell to the floor and looked up at the ceiling with so much anger. Lake is getting married? What a piece of loaded crap? I got up and crawled to my bed and looked at the sky from my window.
“I don’t want him to get married.” I uttered. Why am I so angry just because of Alpha Killian’s words?
“Why are you angry?”
I jerked up with shock and saw Lake behind me with a warm smile. I got up and ran to him, giving him a hug.
“What is it? Did someone offend you at school?”
I shook my head and glanced up at him. “I’m not a child anymore, Lake.”
“Oh, I was just concerned.”
“I know, Lake. Don’t just get married.”
His eyes widened, and then he grinned. “Were you eavesdropping on my conversations with the elders of the clan?”
“I just heard some conversations. I couldn’t stay to listen anymore. They were so disgusting. Why are they forcing you to get married? You are the Alpha of the pack. You can do as you damn well please.”
“You are right about me being an alpha of the pack, Aurora. But you forget one thing, I’m also the people’s responsibility and if you don’t keep up with what will satisfy the people, you are not qualified to be their leader.”
I stood against him. “But that is not fair at all. This is about your life, not theirs.”
“That’s the world of the werewolves, Aurora. You can’t change it.”
“But I don’t want you to get married.”
“Why?” He chuckled. “I’m still alive.” He teased me.
‘Because you wouldn’t be here anymore. It’s hard for me to see you these days and if you get married, it will get worse.’
“How is it going to get worse is what I want to understand, sweetheart?”
“Because you will focus your attention on your wife, the new Luna of this pack, and you will have children with her.” I argued.
“But isn’t that the reason she is going to be my wife?” He kept teasing me.
“I don’t like it, Lake, don’t get married.”
“Why don’t you just agree you want me all to yourself.” he grinned and his piercing green eyes sparkled before me as he hovered over me and rubbed my eyes with both hands.
“That’s what I’m saying, but don’t make it sound so weird. I don’t want you to get married, and that’s it.”
“But the clan wants me to—”
“I don’t want you to, Lake. I’m also your responsibility and not only the people…” he hugged me and ruffled through my hair.
“Hey, Lake, you are ruining my hair.” I muttered.
He laughed as he pulled away from me. “I promise not to get married anymore. Are you happy now?”
“YES.” I screamed and hugged him so tightly.
Lake was only for me.
I’m his little kitty. I don’t want some random woman stealing the attention away from me because I know once he gets married, he will forget about me and I don’t want it. That’s my greatest fear. Call me a narcissistic brat. I don’t care because Lake is my only family.
The only one I have.
For the next two days, I saw Aiden entering my home with a smile on his face. I stood up from my seat and confronted him as soon as I saw him.
“So you came to see me after you ignored me for days, huh?”
“Nope! Didn’t ignore you for days. So sorry about that. I came to visit you and see your uncle’s new Luna. I’m sorry I didn’t reply to your text messages and calls but my parents sent me over with some gifts and then, use that opportunity to see you as well, since my phone is being damaged. Will tell you the story behind my absence later.”
“What?” I stood up from my seat. ‘New Luna?’ That’s what my ears were interested in.
“Yes. Haven’t you heard he is getting married in two weeks time and the Alpha, his fiancee is from a high status…” before he could finish his statement, I ran inside the duplex and went straight to his room but he was nowhere to be found. I then went to the living room and saw Alpha Killian getting up as soon as he saw me.
“What is it? You look stressed, Aurora.”
“Is it true?” I panted as my heart began getting so fast.
