‘Kara, Kara.....’ She could hear her mother calling her name with all urgency. ‘Wake up Kara, we need to hide now’. Kara’s mother was shaking her body and moving around her room quickly. She opened her eyes looked into her mother’s big green eyes and how uncapped her long red wavy hair looked that night. She looked extremely worried. Kara rubbed her hands over her eyes, forcing herself awake from her wonderful sleep. ‘Where is daddy?’ Kara asked, her mother only looked at her and carried on packing her things, at this stage she was beyond afraid. Kara had never seen her mother so wound up before in all the years she’s been alive. ‘Stop asking questions and get up Kara!’ There came that worry again in her mother’s voice, her tone was harsh and demanding but for some reason she still gave a mother's warmth. After Kara’s, mother's words loud banging noises came from downstairs, it clearly sounded like the front door. Silence engulfed the atmosphere and breathing became hard for Kara, it felt like it wasn't the right time for her to breathe or talk. She could only hear her mother breathe. Kara’s mother turned to face her and held her shoulders. No words escaped her mouth, only the look of sadness painting her always bright face. Kara tried to comprehend the situation but her 13 year old brain wouldn't let her. She knew that she should be able to understand, because at her age she should be able to. ‘Kara my sweetheart, you know daddy and I both love you. Take this and always keep it with you. It’s your talisman’. ‘What is a talisman?’ She looked at her mother astonished, as she puts the gold stone with a winged symbol around her neck. ‘Kara, you will need to have this all time. You can't lose this because it will help you control your witch powers’. ‘You told me to hide it’. Kara said shockingly.           ‘Not anymore Kara, you need to protect yourself. Don't act like you never practiced magic before, I used to hear you almost every night. So don't hide from who you are anymore, I'm sorry I couldn't tell you who you were but remember your wings and skills won't protect you alone’. ‘Mother, I don't have wings. What are you talking about?’ ‘I can't explain now, all you have to do right now is keep that safe, don't go to the palace. Go west and enter into the Valkyrie Kingdom and show them the tattoo on your lower back. That is your passport’. Kara’s mother spoke without catching a break with her speech. ‘Mother, Luke will help me he is the prince and he's my best friend’. Kara spoke up again nervously. ‘Stop it! Look at me. We don't have time for this. When you get there ask for Lord Pruor he is your uncle. Don't forget. Go!’ Kara’s mother pushed her to the blank wall and told her to stand there, the noises and banging from downstairs increased with impatience therefore unintentionally urging my mother to move quicker. ‘Open this door in the name of the King and Queen’. Their voices were so loud that Kara and her mother could hear them as clearly as their violent banging. Mother looked at me as she made a spell. ‘aperiam in pariete in conspectu eius’. Kara’s, mother’s eyes shone bright green and her hands manifested the colour green. The wall before Kara opened up and she was levitated and dropped on the ground outside their home. Kara looked up at her mother as the seemed so blind her vision, with the aid of her red curly hair, chaos was erupting everywhere. It seems like today was a raid in Kara’s area, so many people being dragged away from their homes, screams being heard from every corner.  ‘Run Kara, run fast and don't stop until you reach your destination. Remember I love you and happy birthday’. Tears were falling down Kara’s face uncontrollably as she stared at her mother from below. ‘I love you too mother’. Kara said and as she turned to run she witnessed her home consumed in fire. Kara held my breath and ran straight into the night. Running became so difficult and that she was forced to stop to catch her breath. That's when Kara spotted Luke, she ran towards him even though she felt like collapsing. 'Luke my mom she .... she ...' Luke only stared at her as he said the words she never expected to come from him. 'I did it’. 'Did what?' Kara asked, hopping to have heard wrong. 'I found out that your family were not humans and told my dad’. 'How could you Luke? You were my best friend’. Kara spoke with so must disbelief at his confession 'Dad said I was weak. So I had to prove to him that I wasn't. I will keep you safe if you swear to me and my crown when I become King that you will protect me and this kingdom’. Kara stared at Luke in disbelief at the rubbish that was pouring out of his dirty mouth. 'You're sick. I want nothing to do with you’.  'I'll let you go tonight but remember I'll haunt you down until I catch you. You want to play hide and seek? Be my guest’.  Kara gave him one final look and turned to go. 'I'll be back for you, you better ready yourself too Luke.' 'I'll be waiting Kara.' Kara run into the night and this time she didn’t stop for anything even though her body scream from exhaustion. She finally made it to big golden gates with wings on them. On the inside two female guards with enormous wings stood there staring at her 'Child what do you want?' The mean looking female guard asked her. 'My uncle..... Lord Pruor ‘. Kara said feeling completely drained 'Lord Pruor?' The kind looking female guard asked. 'Yes’. Kara responded. 'You're not Valkyrie so you are not permitted to enter child’. The mean looking guards said.' 'Please I'm really tired and I feel like I'm going to die from thirst’. 'Leave or I will use force.' that same guard said again. Luck must have been on Kara’s side because the kinder looking guard called on a man walking past them. 'Lord Pruor!' Before the kinder guard could speak the mean guard spoke first. 'This creature says you're her family’. 'Hi uncle.' Kara said. Pruor stared at Kara with curiosity. 'I don't have a niece’. Pruor said behind the closed gate. 'You do, and it’s me Kara! My mother told me to show you the tattoo on my lower back’. Kara turned around and lifted her shirt up to show him what she was talking about. Kara turned back around and registered the look of shock in his face. 'Open the gate’. Pruor said. The gate is opened and Pruor approached Kara, Looking and assessing her. 'Where have you come from? I only had one family member, which was my brother so you must be Prima’s daughter’. 'uhm I don't know who Prima  is but my mom sent me here.' Kara did not remember knowing her dad's name as Prima yet that's what her uncle said. 'Where did you come from? That’s the question you haven’t answered yet'. The mean guard spoke up behind Pruor. 'Humans’. That's all Kara said as she stared back at the guard. 'What were you doing amongst humans?' The kinder guard asked. 'Mom said we were hiding’. Pruor stood up straighter and asked a question Kara really didn't want to answer. 'Where is your mother Kara?' 'Dead, they set our home on fire’. All Kara could think of was hiding the truth of her being a witch. Why would her mother send her here and not to witches? 'How old are you Kara?' Pruor asked. 'I'm 12 years old’. At that moment Kara totally forgot it was past midnight and it was her birthday so she was actually 13 years old, funny thing her body knew too. She didn't know she would experience so much pain in one day.
