The sound of high heels approaching made Carl look up from his notes, shortly before eight am.
A tall woman with shoulder length dark hair, dressed in a navy suit, white blouse and five inch heels, walked into the Incident Room. She didn’t look anything like a police officer to Carl.
‘Inspector West?’
‘Yes.’
‘DC Templar. I was told I’d find you here.’
Carl relaxed, thankful she wasn’t the press intruder he’d feared.
‘Welcome aboard, Lisa. Take a seat. The others will be here shortly.’
When DS Fuller, SC Head and PC Priest joined them in the Incident Room, Carl introduced Lisa and welcomed the two uniformed officers, who had been seconded to his team for the investigation.
The team sat in a semi-circle of chairs facing Carl.
