Chapter 8.

1272 Words
Never for once does Sherlock risk exposing her body to the cold. The weather that made the day bright on a Saturday morning was so cool and icy as hell as she gave thanks to heaven, standing up with her blanket wrapped over her body. The cold she felt was so by the new dawn as she rushed in to put on the lamp seated on her old cabinet next to her bed. Although she could still feel the cold, she still felt somewhat hot because of the hot lamb. She decided to check through the window in front of her bed and saw snow falling down to the ground.. I see now why it's cold today. "Wow, it is even more beautiful. Frances will graduate today, and due to the snow, the graduation celebration might be canceled." she murmured cheerfully. Sherlock didn't love the notion of Frances graduating and putting up for adoption to a family she didn't know. She wished she was buoyant to sponsor his well-being. She is so eager to take him on as her godmother, but unfortunately, she is still struggling to make ends meet. Since her boss, Mrs. Helena does not accept carelessness from any parents or guidance, she is aware that speaking with her would be extremely risky and that she may lose her job. She makes sure she gives her kids a responsible and capable family that can take good care of them. “But now that the weather looks unfair, the party should be canceled only unless Fran’s kindergarten doesn't love her kids to expose them to this cold weather.” Sherlock said, staring at her phone as she verified that it was just 7am in the morning. “Wow! I can still fall back to sleep and enjoy the cool atmosphere.” She said amazingly, stretching her arms as she lay on her back ready to take a few naps. __________________________________ “Hello, sir, are you still there?” “Hello.. I can't hear you. What did you say?” “Helloooo .. Helloooo..” “Hello sir, but I can hear you.” “Hello, what did you say?” Garrett wondered who was on the line. The network has been terrible as the person he just abruptly hung up with had been trying to reach him for over three times. He knows the bad network was caused by the afternoon snowy weather that has been falling since morning. “Afternoon looking like morning, this weather is beautiful,” he muttered as he caught himself trying to straighten up his coat he was planning to wear. He knew, despite the weather, Mrs. Helena would still want him to be at the invited graduation party, so he has to honor it. He was surprised by the attitude he was dramatizing, carefully taking out time to look good. “Like what is really happening to him?” I can't even remember when last l felt so tense and intentional about looking so good.” (He thought) “Was it because of that beautiful stranger?” “Oh no! Did l just blush?” God helped him ; he wasn't in the presence of anybody to see him smiling and displaying his jaw. “I hope she will make it to the party.’ “Can she? Because the weather is not smiling.” He tried to recall the last time he saw her, so he assumed she was one of the kindergarten staff. “By now, she must have been at work,” he soliloqued. A minute later, he heard his phone ring and looked to see who it was, realizing it was the same individual who had called him over three times. “Should I pick it?” He questioned himself. “No, I would rather ignore it.” He replied, brushing his beard neatly as he danced to his ringtone. His ringtone had been set to play his favorite song titled, "God’s still alive." Garrett so much loved the gospel artist that sang the song. The tones of the music constantly always make him happy and he believes that God still lives in His family. A few minutes later, when he heard the ringing tone stop, he instantly stopped singing. “Oh no!” He said, "You just killed my vibes," as he firmly tapped his phone's screen and searched for the music app so that he would listen to the song again. While doing so, he heard his phone ring again, and saw it was from the same unidentified person that had been bothering him for hours. This time, he decided to pick and test if the network could turn out to be good. He shouted, “Hello there!” “Hello sir”, the caller raised out a loud voice. “Yes!” “Thank God, finally, you can hear me. This is Teresa Darell calling from Queen Frans’s Kindergarten. We wanted to remind you of today's graduation party. We will be expecting you to be at the party as your presence will mean a lot to us.“ “Oh yes, Yes, I will be there shortly.” Garrett answered. “Oh sir, what did you say?” “Garrett, check his phone, ha ha, what is wrong with her ear?” He gestured, making sure his voice was very low so as not to let her hear him. “I said Ma, I will be there.” he said, increasing his voice pitch. “Oh nice, thank you so much, sir”. We know the weather is a bit unfriendly today, but we are looking forward to see you.” “Alright!” He called out. “Thank you so much, sir, once again. Bye sir.” Garrett caught the call without returning and saying goodbye to her. Her voice wasn’t that clear as he was in a hurry to call off the line on time. He stretched out his arm to pick up his fallen phone pitch he had sighted when he was on call as he walked downstairs to check if his Mum had made his lunch. He hadn't taken breakfast because he overslept and didn't know when daybreak had been betrothed. He knows that he has caused hunger in himself due to his sleeping nature. Though it is not actually his fault, because his life is boring with no one to give him company. His mum is just like him too, so boring and always busy nurturing her bees in the bees bees' house located in the backyard of his house. Making food, feeding the bees, arranging the house and nothing else is what his mum does to pass her day. He needs a companion to give him a sense of importance and worth. He longs to feel like a father but doesn't know how he can go about it. He thought in his mind froze as he glanced at the cold pizza and tea his mum had made for him. Now, he then realized the sharp groans from his stomach as he couldn't wait to have a bite. The pizza tasted delicious as he took a soft bite of it in his mouth. He realized he was going to be late for the graduation celebration just as he was about to take the fourth bite. “Oh God! Let me eat this fast, l I am running late.” He hurried the pizza into his mouth while tip-toeing on the top of his legs, rushing to leave quickly without telling his mother, since she was in the backyard busy shredding her bees.
