Almost a week after I found Shadow, I took him to the dog park near our building. I had just thrown the ball for the fifth time when Sonic appeared at the gate. He was still in a semi business suit. His tie was straight, his shoes polished and his expression tired. He looked as if he had stepped out of a boardroom and accidentally entered a world where everyone carried bags of dog waste. He stopped when he saw me. Then his gaze moved towards Shadow. “Since when do you have a dog?” “Since he followed me home.” Sonic walked closer. The dog watched him but did not move.
