CHAPTER SIX

454 Words
The day came when Christiana was to leave, she was still sore, still had a touch of exhaustion. But if she didn’t go, there would be absolutely no hope of escaping Ulrich, and if he had known that Micah’s pack had helped her all hell would break loose. Micah stood there watching her get ready to go, not willing to admit that two weeks had passed and he still knew nothing about her. He didn’t even know how old she was for Christ sake.  Why it was important he didn’t know, he had chalked it up to Alpha male protectiveness and refused to look at the issue again.  “Why don’t you stay?” He said finally. Christiana stopped what she was doing for a split second, “Because if I stay here any longer Ulrich will be on my ass.”  She responded purposely not understanding his full meaning. She had, had a pack once it hadn’t ended well.  Micah stood in the doorway, “Stay Ana.” He used her nickname, which was the one thing that he had gotten out of her during her stay there. “If Ulrich comes after you the pack will protect you, you’ll be safe.” When he saw he wasn’t getting through to her he pointed out innocently, “If you run now, you will be running for the rest of your life.” “It’s not safe for your pack if I stay.” “And you think that wherever you’re headed will be safe?” Micah held his breath, not sure what she was going to do. “You’re pack hates me, you said it yourself, if it were up to them I’d be laying in an alley somewhere.” Christiana waited for him to move from the doorway, when he didn’t she asked quietly, “What do you want from me?” As her fathers daughter she had learned very early that everyone wanted something, and that people weren’t above using each other to get it.  Micah thought about it, knowing it wasn’t a flippant question, that his answer might be the deciding factor between her staying or leaving. “I want you to be safe, and happy and I think that you could be that here. You lost your father recently and haven’t had a chance to grieve. A man trying to force a claim on a woman tends to rub me the wrong way. Plus I think that you’d be a good addition to my pack.”  Christiana took a deep breath, every instinct was telling her to run. It would be nice to have a home again though; even if it wasn’t permanent, she could leave at anytime. “Okay, but just for now. If I think that anybody here is in danger then I leave, agreed?”  Micah nodded, “Agreed.
