Everyone continued milling about the family room of the Bernhardt estate, and after a prolonged silence, Julia spoke her piece: “Well now, Priscilla, do you see what can happen if you’re the bait? My heavens! He sat right smack in front of you. How’d he get past security? This is unacceptable, everybody, and you all know it.”
“Ms. Cahill,” CIA Agent Froley said, “no game plan is absolutely failsafe. Anyway, we needed the bad guys to know for certain that we haven’t stashed Ms. Austin away someplace. How else were we to draw them out?”
But a distraught Julia pouted: “I don’t care about your doggone ‘game plan.’ I still think it’s wrong what you’re doing to her.”
