Darling

Zoe was never asked why she was found injured in a field in the middle of nowhere.   It has not been a nice journey for her. It has been a journey of t*****e and madness.    The pieces of grey hair were the biggest indicator.   Billy offered her to stay in the house for as long as she wanted. At first, she wanted to leave, but she noticed very quickly how weak she was, and decided to accept.   Francis finally asked something related to what had happened to her, but not directly. He asked her if she knew someone around here that might be dangerous.    “I’ve been traveling around and some mercenaries attacked me, but I took care of them” she lied. The truth was stranger than fiction.   Francis did not say anything else.   The men went on with their work, while Zoe did basic exercises to regain her lost muscle. She also ate a lot, which was something Francis found surprising.   The days kept passing in this fashion, and Francis began to suspect less and less of Zoe. She was a nice person, he found out, and they got along well.  Francis had grown used to working on the farm. There was tranquility in spending his days with Billy and Zoe.   That was until things changed.  It happened the day a woman knocked on the door of the house while Billy was out.  It was Francis the one that answered.   “Hello,” said Francis.   “Hello indeed, cutie pie,” said the woman.    Francis decided to ignore that. The woman was actually pretty cute. She was surprisingly tall, with a very light purple color hair. She smiled with confidence, as if the world was a joke that barely made her smile.   “Do you need something?” said Francis.   “Why yes, I do. Is there a beautiful girl that goes by the name of Zoe around here?” asked the woman.   “There is”  “Would you be a darling and fetch her for me?”   “Sure”   Francis started to head upstairs to get Zoe.   Zoe was reading a book that Billy had given her. She never was the one that read, it had always been Louis, but she wanted to start so that they could talk about something. The juicy ones really were the best.   She got up from the bed and started going down.  And that was when she saw him.   “You,” Said Zoe.   “Me,” the woman said.   Disgust and fear were clearly visible in Zoe’s face.  The temperature rose slightly.  “Francis, that is the person you’re looking for,” Zoe said.   “Ah yes, a creature of the night. How is the lady? Is she doing fine? It’s been an awfully long while since she has paid me any visits. I surely do miss her long neck, especially when drenched in red" the woman said.   A small bit of green smoke came out of Francis. The woman did not move, looking at Francis with that nonchanging expression. It was that stupid, unnerving smile. And then she was attacked by the strange green smoke.  But she dodged. “Not a single ounce of talent. I must wonder why the lady in black would ever choose you. And the fact that you cannot even sense me. It's such a sad tragedy.” said the woman.    Francis swore.   It was going to be harder than he thought. Zoe was not moving, for some reason she was petrified.  “To be honest, Francis, this is no woman. It’s a man, dressed as a woman” Zoe said.   "What?" Francis was stupefied.   THIS WAS A MAN?   Imagine liking a cute girl and then finding out it’s a dude. I wonder how that feels like. Its not like it has ever happened to me before...  “The name is Jack, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” said the woman/man named Jack.   “Hey man, I don’t judge okay? If you want to cross-dress, there ain’t no problem with that. You should do what you like to do” said Francis.   Jack grabbed the collar of his dress, and instantly removed it, to reveal a purple pajama that covered his body and a small hoodie.   He removed his fake extensions.     “I don’t like to cross-dress. I like coffee" said Jack.  Before Francis could ask him why he had cross-dressed in the first place, Jack snapped his fingers.   Francis’ pinky exploded.   “What the hell,” said Francis.   “He uses magic,” said Zoe.   Magic? There is such a thing as magic? What makes it magical? And why the pinky? So many questions bugged Francis.   Francis' finger started to slowly heal.   “Dear, you are very much lacking in practice. The lady can heal in an instant any injury. You take too long” Jack said.   How did he know so much about them?   How can he heal like that? Zoe was looking as Francis' finger slowly healed. She knew for a fact that he was no Hunter.  “Jack, if you leave these people alone, I’ll go with you,” Zoe said.  “Why, darling, that would be no fun,” said Jack.
